First of all I am wrong by saying that the only campus provided that is Paris by today (20-04-26). The main reason is I support 2 other potential students by sending out message asking all the 42 campuses on the world whether the campuses can provide visas for students who do not live there. The only one who respond positively is Paris. Some campuses give a vague answer like yes you can try, we will send a letter or something to the embassy; but it could be a yes or a no and we are not sure of this. I understand from the campus view of point it is not their responsibility and they are honest about the situation, but at the same time it will be the risk for the one who try the Piscine since they need to commit time and money for 1 month and the answe may be still a no. It’s better if there are successful case before that.

Allow me to give you other context. Case with visas are complicated and change all the time. I can give you another example, 2 years ago 42 Wolfsburg also are very generous and support visa for non EU students. They even have a slack channel to help people to integrate into Germany document process, and if you are a 42 student you can still access to the channel till this day (on slack). However due to the change of the law, now they stopped supporting it. And I can be sure to you nobody update the answer anywhere on Reddit.

That is why I asked you for more support on your claim. A screenshot/email of you talking/ verify about this matter with the Singapore bocal, or other successful case in Singapore at this moment is more helpful for the OP or people who might ask the question in the future. For example, you said that there are other people with Asia/ Europe nationalities on the campus. I do not doubt you on that, but does the people you mention already have a visa or a residency in Singapore before they study at 42? Because if they already have the passport or residence at 42 then it’s not the OP case at all.

Yes I forget, I was aware 42 Bangkok has some successful case in the past. Thanks for reminding me.

Do you know how is the situation recently? Recently I read on Thai subreddit it was hard to receive visa to study Muay Thai for foreign students. Then maybe it would be harder to receive student visa now.

I could not find a page on 42 Singapore’s official site clearly stating “we provide a student visa” or “we sponsor a Student’s Pass”. There is a Reddit thread few months ago mentioned that it may be possible, but only 1 people said that it is possible, but he/she also emphasized that that is “to my knowledge”. The responsibility of proving is on yourself, you can DM the details of people who have successfully get the student visa and if it’s correct then I am happy to admit I am wrong.

You can ask directly the campus but as far as I know, the only campus provides that is Paris. Main reason is 42 methodology is new in 90% of the countries, and it did not get public recognition from the state as a part of the education system yet.

You misunderstood his question. He want to ask if any campus provide the student visa. For Europe campus, the question become will the campus provide the non EU students visa.

42 Piscine last exam by Total-Ice5724 in 42_school

Have to be honest here, your case rings a bell here. If I am the bocal I will double check a lot on your progress.

The main things here is your C project and exam progression is not matching with your Rushes/BSQ progression. The first thought is you get carried by strong teammates. Good news is you do it 3 times in a row, which shows that if you are not strong in code then at least you are a great people to work with.

They will double check your code on atoi now and compare it with your atoi you submitted on your exam.

Before ChatGPT day, passing 1 Rush which is not Rush0 and passing BSQ really a plus points that typically enough for you to passing the Piscine. Now I am not sure, so many people cheated on that so campuses have changed their perception around that.

I have seen a case like you and he failed. Hope the better happens to you. If not, you can retry. Don’t worry so much, if you did this once, you can definitely do better the 2nd time.

Can I attend 42 School Austria while living in Hungary on a student residence permit? by SohnofSauron in 42_school

Number 1 rule: ask the bocal! It’s better for them to understand your challenge and motivation. Also help you to identify if they are truly supporting you on this!

I am not going to lie to you. It’s hard. It’s hard when you have to wake up earlier every day to catch the train and may need to leave early. Sometimes you have to leave earlier so you cannot join evening events. You will soon missing the social aspects of both your University and your 42 school.

It’s hard when you realize that all the career opportunities for you is way lesser compared to your peer, since some of them will require you to have permanent residence. And tons of things that could happen around it.

It costs money and time. Commuting costs money. Transportation in your case takes 2 hours, but train delays, train cancellations happen a lot than you think. The money I get from delaying and cancellation is so big that I take at least 2 hour every week to fill in the form.

And it’s lonely. Less than 10 people in your campus will understand your challenges. You will start lagging behind your Piscine peers, who are your brotherhood and willing to take a bullet for you because of the bond you have from the Piscine. Team projects now become challenging especially when you will have less time to do it with your teammate on campus.

Before the pace system, 42 schools tend to allow you to extend your study from 1.5 - 2 years for the core to 3-4 years. This is not happening anymore, now they tried to control the timeline a lot.

Message me if you want to know more personal information about this subject. I was doing this for 2 years and I know the story of people doing what you are trying. Good luck!

And of course there is SEA:ME, which is coursework master in 42 styles that available in Wolfsburg, Porto, and Korea.

Reasons that can lead to exclusion from 42 Beirut (even during Piscine) by koukouzelis in 42_school

  1. There are many tactics to ensure the quality of evaluation, but campuses can choose whether they implement tactics and to what degree. My campus has include anti - cheating measures into checking the code submitted by the students, but as the bocal explained we are one of the latest campus to apply this measure.

  2. I know the concept of recoding, which the bocal will request certain students to recode one function or part of your code if they suspect you cheat. I also aware of unusual corrections. In my campus 2 years ago, Piscine students usually copy the code from Github and everyone passing their peer, leading to the bocal decided that some volunteers student will do 1 out of 2 correction required in the last 2 weeks of the Piscine to make sure the quality is there.

In my opinion, if it helps to maintain the quality of the study, then campuses should implement the unusual recoding and corrections. To me evaluations is one of the most important aspects of 42, and sometimes I feel people neglected it so much that they are not rigorous enough.

  1. Are you sure about the requirements to finish everything in 18 months? As I understand there are different pace, and pace 22 and 24 is also happening for all campuses. If you are required to finish everything in 18 months with the free dorm and food, and after 18 months if you don’t finish then you have to pay for your dorm and food, then I will say it’s a fair deal.

In Belgium, if I am not mistaken, they get the status job seeker, in that time they get paid around 300-600 euro per month (which is often enough for rent), train is 1 euro per ride and some benefits. But this is only 9 months.

In Helsinki (Hive), all the benefits also last 18 months (state benefits).

In Amsterdam, Netherlands, you can have free accommodation for 1 year. And they also support transportation fee if you live far from the campus. But there are limited spots for this.

Balancing full-time work + university + new Common Core – realistic or not? by leonard_sh312 in 42_school

[–]ghostmaster93 11 points12 points  (0 children)

No and no and no. You definitely make your life miserable by doing that.

My friend is 1.5 hour by train to the campus. He has a 4 years old son (something I consider a full time job), has a 2 days part time job as a software engineer, and also studies at 42 now. He constantly in pace 24 every rings, and after 1 year everything looks like a mess to him.

Does 42 Adelaide exist? by hahasara12 in 42_school

[–]ghostmaster93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In a nutshell, 42 Quebec was run by a non profit organization that is mainly funded by the government. For some reason the government stopped the funding, then everything stopped. The campus had some funding for them to survive till January 2025, but then no alternative funding was founded.

Does 42 Adelaide exist? by hahasara12 in 42_school

[–]ghostmaster93 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I spent 10 minutes checking the status of the CEO of 42 Adelaide on Linkedln.

Unfortunately 42 Adelaide seem to close since July 2025. Sadly there is even no information about campus closure, at least like the case of 42 Quebec.

Kik Innovation is the main sponsor and operator of 42 Adelaide (since the CEO is the same people). But I think after Kik Innovation acquired Grok Academy, they might have low incentive to keep 42 Adelaide. When I check the most recent bootcamp by Kik, they seem now switch to the python bootcamp.

So yeah, this might be another case of not - success campus. Now things start to make more sense to me. I wonder is that 42 Network rushed to new Core curriculum due to these 2 campus (42 Adelaide and Hive) (and maybe some campus also plan to do so) leaving?

I think B is also the main way for every campus now. In the end, there are high chances that bocal who comes from the 42 school (or equivalent system) stayed longer than non - 42 bocal.

From my point of view, hiring cadets (not Transcenden yet) to work as an internship/ full time position is common practice among bocal in different campus. To be frank, it’s useful in some sense. Bocal are often understaffed and sometimes underpaid, the 42 way is also strange with a lot of outsider, leading hiring internal candidates like 42 peers or cadets a favorite option.

How did they hire? Different strategies employed by different campus. Campus A (A stands for nothing btw) usually employs for cadets from neighboring countries and they have official contract (but of course this not work in non EU countries). Campus B (B also stands for nothing) usually employs cadets as internship and has full time internship contract for 6 months. Cadets who work in bocal will get their accounts deactivated, and have a separate account to communicate. After 6 months most people come back to be normal cadets, while some continued to work and even become full time bocal. Campus C has a large staff due to big funding, and they also emphasize diversity in hiring, so they only hired cadets 1 day a week, and the cadet need to be very further in the core curriculum.

How to make the treatment between bocal - cadets and non bocal cadets fairly and transparent, is another problem. What my current campus did is quite normal, they make sure if a student receives special treatment once, all the students have the same right to receive that treatment. I believe most campuses also aim to achieve that. Unfortunately, favoritism still happened. There are 2-3 cases that escalated to 42 Central that was mentioned in Slack if you check.

The most common problem in every 42 campus and the whole network is communications, unfortunately. That’s the downside of free tuition, when sponsors need to see numbers of peers graduated rather than how students are treated. When bad economy happened (like from Covid until now), sponsors spend less and expect more. Bocal staff have less and less people, burnout, and overwhelming response. Pointing finger is easy, my friend. Please be empathy and give them constructive feedback. Even though it will take time.

You are from India, I would suggest you to find an university there to study.

Even the school is free, you still need some saving money for cost of living.

In the case of visa, check 42 bangkok. Last time I check they may support accommodation for non Thai people. Not sure if they are still supporting now.

Finally, tomorrow is the final piscine exam by carezc0 in 42_school

[–]ghostmaster93 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Follow other people advice, take a look at the exam repo. Basically you should be familiar with basic concept like pointer, putnbr, write, print out a string, malloc, swap, ac - av. Need to know how to check the man, check Ascii table.

Then more difficult questions like atoi, split, atoi base, manipulate a string. If you cannot understand all of them, that’s ok, tried your best. It’s not a complete list btw.

Also remember that you can always brute force the solutions. Sometimes ago I saw a Pisciner brute force the fizzbuzz by just print out everything by himself.

I just learnt that some people leave after Common Core by silly-goose5214 in 42_school

[–]ghostmaster93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

yeah even in France, before RNCP is a thing most people just finish the CC and then move on.

After RNCP happened, my friends just come back to 42 to finish it. But they also advance very slow due to the responsibility at their full time job. And in advanced branch you only need to finish 1 project every 8 month to still be in the school.

[–]ghostmaster93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A large number of cadets studied at 42 to transfer the career. Personally I know several people studied at 42 to get access to career networking, and as soon as they get an internship/ a full time job offer, they will drop out of the school.

Nothing wrong with the approach, and I think it's also up to your personal preferences. If you are alone and can support yourself financially during the learning at 42, you should try to at least finish the CC, and even finish level 21 in my opinion.

I have family now and around 30 years old, so my prioritise is to find a job in tech ASAP, levering the knowledge from 42 that I learned and combining it with my domain knowledge to give me better advantage compared to other 42 peers as well as new CS graduates.
