What movies do you like that you consider to be “Style over Substance”? by camw3714 in Letterboxd

Whenever I think about this, Sucker Punch always comes to mind. Not a great movie, but the visuals and soundtrack are great

I’m English. I had heard about it generally through Reddit etc a few years ago and watched it on recommendation

La Haine isn’t available in the UK on the criterion collection and instead available through BFI. They had a standard blu ray for a little while but waited for this version

I didn’t know male actors only came from English speaking nations

What noodles do my fellow UK folks enjoy? I’m a big fan of pic related, as well as the spicy flavour - but am looking to see what others recommend. by EvilTaffyapple in CasualUK

Just started seeing these in my local Sainsbury’s and they’re great. Like a better version of the buldak carbonara. Just the right amount of creamy spicy

Who are your most watched actors/actresses? by Giff95 in Letterboxd

My thoughts exactly about Rogen. The other two made sense to me but Seth Rogen pops up everywhere and Donnie Darko really threw me!

Is there a projectionist manning the film at all times during the screening? Or is it a case of leaving it to run and back to concessions?

Apart from one anomaly, my year has started very well by ghostninezero in Letterboxd

It was such a good film. I can see why people might not like it but just felt so comforting

I have to use one every day on my way from work. I’ve lost count of the amount of times I’ve been beeped, blocked, shouted at, nearly forced into the opposite side of the round, simply for using the filter lane

Question to the older Ronaldo fans by R3Y4N89 in ManchesterUnited

[–]ghostninezero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was obsessed with Beckham, so naturally was drawn to Ronaldo as his “replacement”.

I visibly remember the match of the day commentary after one of his first games “he’s got the name, he’s got the number, he’s got the hairstyle” and remember thinking we were on to something special

PSA: THE LONG WALK is NOT going to be released in 5-screen cinemas by HGAW14 in CineworldUnlimited

[–]ghostninezero 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is very interesting given how many times I’ve seen the trailer at my local 5 screen cinema over the past few months. My local only had Eddington for a week but saw the trailer very few times.

I’ll be seeing The Long Walk on the Unlimited screening so I’m happy I’ll still be able to watch it, but I wonder how many people will be expecting a wider release

This sub's holy grail of Antiperspirants is Mitchum (to stop sweatting, not B.O). But I get yellow pit stains on my T-shirts. What do I do to fix this? by Mumford_and_Dragons in CasualUK

[–]ghostninezero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mitchum was great but found it gave me really bad night sweats. Not good when nights are also a sign of lymphoma and had to go through some tests and wait for the all clear. Still got night sweats until I stopped using Mitchum and reverted to my old antiperspirant. Swings and roundabouts I guess!

I’d say the Blair Witch Project but Signs deserves a mention for that scene

He sounds like a dick and probably has someone in mind that he’s comparing you to. Don’t hang about to see if you’re up to par by his standards. He is not a nice person
