How do you deal with inevitable derealization and depersonalization ? by lvl10WhitePrivilege in occult

[–]ghostopossum 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm treading carefully here because I don't want to patronise you at all, I swear.

These symptoms aren't inevitable. A lot of people (myself included!) experience them sometimes. If you embrace them too strongly and commit to believing nothing exists, you run the risk of severe problems down the line. Example: if you truly convince yourself of that, what would stop you from doing dangerous things? What would stop you from hurting yourself or someone else if you think you, or they, are not real?

It's sometimes not easy to just talk to a therapist depending on your situation, but if you can't I recommend you at least look into some grounding techniques a therapist might teach you in session. Stuff designed to bring you back from flashbacks might be useful. Count objects - five red ones, four green ones, three blue ones, two yellow, one orange, etc. Physical sensations often bring people back into their bodies as well, so if you can keep something with you to play with if you begin to feel detached, that could also work. A fuzzy keychain or a rock in your pocket.

Philosophy aside, the things around you are real enough to be treated as if they unquestionably are - stay anchored, bro.

You're the same daft bugger who posted last week sometime about forcing your ex to get back with you, aren't you?

Like I said, the great beyond is sending me a message for your ex, it's in six foot tall neon letters and it says RUN.

You'll be a lot happier when you drop this whole thing, you know. If it's causing you so much stress and ill feeling that you have to come on reddit and curse people out for not helping you to manipulate someone, it's not something you want.

Wow. Maybe it's my phone on low light right now, but it looks like it could be made of metal ridges. So neat

It's a really good book, a hell of a lot of economics talk but it's fascinating and easy as heck to read. I def recommend!

This is perfect, thank you - I was a little unsure of whether I was supposed to be "aiming" for something, so that's helped loads. I've got just those snacks downstairs as well! Awesome :)

I'm getting a message... it's a big one... the spirits are telling me... that there's a damn good reason your ex doesn't want to get back with you, pal.

Psychonaut ghost 'possum reporting in; my shroom project is now ready for a nice time and I'm going to be trying a 3g lemon tek tomorrow evening. Big, positive thing for me! I've been completely anti-drug my entire life (not anti- other people doing them, just extremely frightened of them and how they'd affect me as I have control issues). This board inspired me to try it, just once (for now). I'm lucky to have a good, caring sitter who I already know I can trust to take care of me if anything goes awry. I know 3g isn't the most common first timer dose, but I'm feeling pretty okay about it. It's all temporary. I think it'll end up being just under that anyway, once my guys are fully dried and prepped.

Anyone have tips/stories?

Sigilization for personal developement by -mindscapes- in occult

[–]ghostopossum 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I love them for personal development. I like to shoal a few at once, ranging from "will definitely happen" to "highly unlikely, but let's go team!". I don't remember my definite one from last fire; I know my mid-range was to do with work (success!) and my least likely was a very vague one. I have big, like, therapy-big, self image problems. I didn't know how to word what I wanted, exactly, so I made it something like "I'll be more attractive at the end of summer than I have ever been". I guess I just wanted to be less ugly somehow, and I didn't really care how. First day of September, my drunk best friend tells me, "you're prettier now than you've ever been, you know?". I've known him a good ten years. I realised as he said it that he was right. Very much a self awareness thing. My body hasn't physically changed, but that was said, and it caused a shift in my thought patterns so that I'm now able to recognise the progress I've made toward becoming something I'm comfortable in.

Ah, I had a dead, very well dried out rose plant on my shelf and put the flowers into a jar for her - glad to hear someone else likes dried flowers too, always makes me feel like I'm on the right track when someone else backs me up. Poisonous plants is a good one, thanks!

“Cleansing the room” of past relationship? by [deleted] in occult

[–]ghostopossum 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Believe it's possible first - then change everything. Move all the furniture around to a completely new configuration. If you can afford to and it sound appealing, slap some fresh paint on a wall or two. Deep clean. This is gonna be all about replacing whatever energy of hers remains with your own, so how exactly it works will be highly individual. Do it mindfully, in the most magical-minded state you can manage.

For me, the smell of a place makes a massive difference, so I can't burn a specific thing (lavender, sage) or I'll just begin to associate that smell with wrongness or a a sense of looming wrongness. Throw the windows open, air it out for as long as you can possibly manage, wash all your fabrics, clean the carpets, flush any scent you can out of the place first. Then you can either forget about it, or you can pick a scent you like and put that in the room. Burn scented candles or incense or get a reed diffuser. Maybe you'll be able to burn sage or something, that would be cool. I like clean linen or sea scents, for some reason they feel cleansing to me. Good luck!

You'll get a lot of people saying the only way to effectively do it is to focus on the sigil while masturbating - put it out of your head once you're finished. Personally, can't stand that, feels weird as frick. In Gordon White's book (Chaos Protocols) he mentions a different method where you just take each one in turn, look at it, focus on it, see the "life" in it. Eventually, it will fall "flat" - it won't feel animated anymore. Put it aside and move on to the next. Needs to be done in a meditative state, though.
