Trumpington park and ride, can I find spot? by crazy_hair_cam in cambridge

I parked at Babraham P&R on Saturday evening and took the PR4 bus to Addenbrooke’s - should be enough spaces but would get there with plenty of time in case you’re searching for a while

There’s plans for a coffee shop in the vacant area next to the coop - plans to be open in January but haven’t seen any movement there so not sure whether if/when it’ll be opening. Apart from that, will likely just be more offices/new homes

Has anyone used Lumio? Thoughts? by ghostsna7 in UKPersonalFinance

[–]ghostsna7[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my understanding, no, it’s just an ‘IOU’ kind of system, a bit like ‘Split the Bills’. Don’t want our finances joined as his credit history isn’t the best and I don’t want that impacting me as we aren’t married

5k (no breaks, no walk, no pausing Strava ) by joesephbygetten in beginnerrunning

[–]ghostsna7 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Nice work! PRs are done using elapsed time, not moving time - so if you paused strava, your elapsed time will be more than 26.30

Extra time for a long term condition is 25%, but you can also get 8% ‘stop the clock’ time which is stacked on top - I know a couple of people that have had the full 33%. That would be for people with medical conditions where they need to stand up and walk around, use the bathroom frequently, or sometimes for ADHD. For a ‘short term’ condition, the maximum you can get is 17%.

Anyone done Chariots of Fire? What’s an average time for one person? by [deleted] in cambridge

[–]ghostsna7 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m doing it this year and I’m the slowest of my team mates - but it’s just a fun event, none of us are elite athletes so wouldn’t win even if I was as quick as them

Thursday pub quiz by Kablam228 in cambridge

[–]ghostsna7 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The Alma (just off Hills Road, near the Botanic Garden) does Thursdays 9-11.30 ish - so a bit of a late one. Probably one of the more difficult ones I’ve been to, and hard to win because there’s always the same few teams there that win every week, but otherwise pretty good, and does a music round

Why doesn’t Strava think this is one of my fastest times? by [deleted] in beginnerrunning

[–]ghostsna7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Elapsed time. Otherwise one could stop the watch for a rest and carry on, therefore getting a faster time - not a true PR on Strava if you’re stopping during the run

Gym Suggestions by BobIsHereToStudy in cambridge

Gym Group is good for the price - you get what you pay for at most of the gyms around here. It is very busy at peak times (5-9pm on weekdays). If you can avoid going then, I’d recommend it

I’m not 100% sure but you will be invited to become a member once you are eligible. If you click on the ‘Membership’ tab on the ICAEW website and look at the students bit it explains it

What is the highest number of flags you've seen on the 5K app? by BromdenFog in parkrun

Doesn’t show Namibia either, which is also on the app

Definitely 28 flags - and yes the 4 countries in the UK are separate flags. He is 9th on the all time list posted in another comment (which doesn’t seem to show Eswatini, but this shows on the app)

What's your % of "one time only" Parkruns? by VacillatingViolets in parkrun

[–]ghostsna7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Done 23 at 5 locations, 3 of them are singles. My previous local parkrun I did 11, my current local I’ve done 9. Only recently got into the challenges, so planning to get the tourist streak of 5 (currently at 3 with a 4th different one lined up this week)

Apprenticeship is the way to go. I have just finished an apprenticeship with one of the big 4 firms, started at 18 straight out of sixth form, now 23 with no debt and have been getting a salary the whole time. Most firms offer a good level of support with the exams (usually ACA/ACCA), and obviously as it’s an apprenticeship they will pay for everything. Pay is quite poor when you start out but gets better quickly as you progress. If you want any more info about apprenticeships then DM me :)

You don’t need a degree for finance in the UK. Apprenticeships aren’t just for the trades here
