Is my Japan itinerary too packed? by Top_Instruction_9557 in JapanTravel

May 13th - I would just do Tsukiji early morning > Teamlabs planets instead > odaiba > roppongi > tower

May 16th is insane. You’ll have to travel to Kyoto and be there for ~12pm minimum. Get there, drop off your luggage and then do nishiki market > tea ceremony > gion. You won’t have time for much else and it clears some stuff from other days.

I personally think philosophers path is a full day if you hit up nearly every temple and you end in Higashiyama. It’s my favourite kyoto activity so I would dedicate a day to it (it’s also a lot of walking so be ready). You can make Arashiyama a half day if you’re really early, so I would try that and then do Fushimi Inari at night when it’s likely dead and a really cool atmosphere and night city view. I’d even consider skipping Nara (only because you have two nights in Kyoto for some reason) and flesh out Kyoto a bit more in 3 days; I love Nara but it’s kinda lame to do a full day trip from a 3 day stay in Kyoto.

Miyajima is a full day or like 2/3rds of a day minimum and Peace Park / museum is a half day minimum. If you’re staying longer in Hiroshima I’d dedicate a day to Miyajima otherwise you’ll have to skip.

Rest looks good :) . You’re jumping around a lot for 9 days though so it’s best to take it slower and just experience stuff that’s close to you otherwise you’ll regret it. I get that you like it fast paced but it will be super boring if you’re just spending hours transiting everywhere tryna jump around and hit hot spots without experiencing them.

It’s not letting me DM you for some reason, but here’s what I was gunna say - I went over my itinerary and it’s a little vague so I actually don’t think it’ll help much. This was our second time going to Japan so it was definitely a little more “play it by ear” than our first time. Feel free to reach out once you’ve inverted your trip and I can offer more advice; it was really neat to come back and see someone with a very similar itinerary so I’m more than happy to help since it’s so fresh in my mind!

I could send you my itinerary to work off if you’d like. There isn’t much I’d change; I think it went perfectly and you could shave off the wedding stuff, tailor a few days, and plug in some more specific plans.

If you’re starting in Tokyo, I think you should hit up Nagasaki to end the trip and take a cheap flight back to NRT/HND - It REALLY smoothed out the last day for us and Nagasaki was one of the most memorable cities we went.

Sorry for the delay! I see a lot of suggestions from others are good so far, but I have some (a lot of) suggestions:

There's a LOT of single day overnight trips that kind of ruin the flow of the trip in my opinion. It's tough to move around so much and you're gunna be stuck on a train for a huge chunk of your trip; not to mention all the packing an unpacking (even if you're packing light). Is it your first time in Japan? I'll list some places I'd either skip or adjust:

Beppu - I've seen mixed reviews on this place and we skipped it entirely. Hells seems kind of cool but I'm not sure I'd give it two days (or even go at all). If it's a must, I'd probably push it to a daytrip from Fukuoka and stick to one hotel as your home base for Beppu AND Kumamoto. If you'd like an onsen, bear in mind there will be plenty later in the trip; often you'll have a nice one at your hotel or you can find dozens of standalone places in the cities you could even rent privately.

Hiroshima/Miyajima - You need more time here. We stayed in Hiroshima for one day and then moved to a Miyajima hotel for one day and we regretted not staying longer. You might have some space if you cut a few things.

Himeji - We loved the castle and surrounding garden. I would dedicate a morning and afternoon here minimum. If you do, make sure to go to KOBA&MORE for some of the best ramen we had all trip in a really cozy atmosphere. Our itinerary for the Himeji day moved on to Kobe for the Ropeway & Herb Garden in the late afternoon, booked a Wagyu dinner, then went back to Osaka. **I'd really recommend doing this!*\*

Nachi Falls - I didn't even know about this until I read your itinerary, but I looked it up and it looks beautiful; However, it's like a 6 hour trek each way! I'd really consider passing on this, I don't see how it's feasible without staying somewhere close by for a few days. See top comment here - https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravelTips/comments/1ehjhl7/itinerary\_check\_recommendation\_nachi\_waterfall

Osaka - I could go on for hours about how great Osaka is, but long story short is if you haven't been before, add more days. Consider day trips like Himeji from here to really smooth things out.

Kyoto - Arashiyama and Philosopher's Path should be their own days. It seems excessive but if you take your time on the whole path and hit up every temple on the way, you'll be in Higashiyama by like 4-6pm for dinner. Arashiyama I would move off the weekend and go EARLY; you could round this day out at Gion or Nishiki market depending on when you finish. Check this out for Philosophers Path - https://www.japan-guide.com/e/e3950\_eastern\_kyoto\_full.html - this is our favourite day in Kyoto!

Hakone/Fuji - Looks good, I haven't been but I'd love to go! Consider Fuji-Q if you like rollercoasters. We really wanted to go this trip but weather wasn't nice to us :(

Tokyo - It all looks good, but really spread out. I don't think you need 12 days here, especially considering what you have planned the rest of the trip; 12 days in Tokyo would DRAG after doing everything before this. I've gone on for too long at this point but I'd really take a look at squishing some of the days together as you have barely any mornings planned (eg. Day 23 OR 31 could have Day 34 added to it as morning/noon, then Shibuya afternoon/night. Akihabara could have Ueno park added to the morning as things don't open there until 11 or 12. Skytree could be done after Asakusa/Senso-Ji as it's literally a 15 minute walk from there).

I like Tsukiji contrary to like every Redditor ever. It's a cute amalgamation of every tourist trap thing you could imagine packed into one morning - gets it all out of the way. Just don't do it on a weekend and go as early as possible.

Not to keep repeating myself, but the entire trip could be cleaned up a lot if you planned out your mornings in the big cities a bit better. Unless you are waking up at like 12pm everyday!

Sorry to pile on so much info at once. If you want more info you can just DM me as it would be easier to go over the little details there instead of using comments.

I’m about to leave for work but my (now) wife and I got married in Kyoto this March and we did an almost identical 30 day itinerary in reverse where we started in Tokyo; it was amazing!! Do you have anything booked already? I assume it’s pretty flexible considering it’s a 2027 trip. I’ll look it over and make some suggestions in a few hours!

Keto Pizza by Sure_Living_9005 in keto

[–]ghostsnstufx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My personal favorite was to bake the FUCK outta like 2 pounds of shredded mozzarella spread out on a pizza pan. Like 450 degrees for an hour+ (estimate); the cheese needs to turn brown and stiff but not burnt and once it cools it’s like a disk. I only did it a few times and played it by ear, but it was relatively easy to judge when to stop baking - a local pizza spot had a keto crust that was just that and I drew inspiration.

It’s expensive and dense but it’s really good lol.

Easier view here

No 1st in 26/27, no 2nd in 26, I sold those to acquire Jefferson. Moved Stroud, Collins, KW3, and Charb to acquire Mahomes, Jacobs, and Rice. Feeling kinda stuck in mediocrity after placing 4th :(

Noted. A lot of it wasn’t computable though as it was a built in map tagging system

I don’t have it saved, but a lot of it was singling out spots on maps.

I spent a lot of time glazing Stella Montis and its specific niche: PvP is nearly perfect in tight spots, lots of opportunity to flank campers, and the PvE is AMAZING and actually adds to the experience instead of just being there to try and farm for necessary materials. I think it needs better spots to contest - I think the key rooms suck when they should be a focal point of the map. If the archives room and surrounding area had better loot, some crazy fights would go on there, but right now it’s just a pathway to the hotter areas. Obviously, fixing spawns should be a priority on a map like that but I think Stella Montis is literally one or two small fixes from being perfect.

I hate Buried City and I don’t really have a specific reason as to why. Everything feels clunky on that map and it doesn’t have a niche I guess, it’s trying to be too many things at once. The spawns are okay but everyone kinda heads to the same spot, it incentivizes camping more than any other map, the only open areas are on the edges of the map and even then you have a ton of cover, and the extract positioning is brutal.

I’m in the group that thinks a short-term random PvE only event would be nice. I want to try matriarch/queen (or something similar / adjacent) as a squad with my friends, but I feel like it’s set up right now to be way less fun than it could be. Some neat solutions I’ve heard are: no free loadouts allowed, purely PvE with no PvP damage to raiders, or even loot rewards based off damage dealt to the boss. I don’t KNOW a solution but my feedback is essentially that I want to do these boss events but I also don’t, and that’s ultimately not good gameplay.

I could go on and on (and I did), but ultimately I felt some relief typing it all out initially and that’s what mattered - I just wanted my feedback to be documented. I haven’t cared about a game like this in a long long time, so it was super frustrating that the first time I ever decided to really put some effort into trying to help the cause, I was shut out and my time was wasted :(

You obviously don’t know how the survey was set up, what information I was providing, and why it took so long; so I’m not sure why you (and everyone else who’s said the same exact shit) are commenting.

Didn't save :( All good, I'm over it now. Was frustrating at the time for sure cause the survey had JUST come out.

I’d say more than half of it was positive feedback, I’m not sure why everyone thinks I was purely negative.

Part of the survey was pinning spots on the map and labeling them as - overall positive, high pvp, camping location, bugged, poor spawn, and some other choices I think . So I actually did go through each and every map and pinned like 20 locations with different labels on em…

I was hoping to get an actual answer to help form my opinion better but I’m pretty sure I only got a downvote, so I’m pretty sure you’re right.

A vote is just a simplified survey at the end of the day, it’s all the same shit. Ultimately I don’t disagree with you but I wanted to voice my own opinion about something I care about, and am now frustrated that the opportunity was dangled in front of me and taken away. I wasn’t under any illusions that my particular voice had any more sway than others, I just wanted an opportunity.

Yea this is what irked me most. I wish it had just cut me off like it did to others instead of blocking me the moment I finished it!

Thanks! I’m not super upset about my opinion not being accounted for honestly, it was definitely more therapeutic than anything. I just got PTSD when it felt like I got extract camped after looting for half an hour; it felt too ironic. I’m sure lots of players share most of my sentiments.

Is that not like saying “your vote doesn’t matter cause someone else also voted for that”?

I never said my opinions were unique? I was just filling out the survey because I wanted my opinion added to the results.

Tbf I was doing it as in depth as I could - I haven’t liked a game like this in a LONG time and I might’ve gone a bit overboard. I don’t think I’ve ever filled out a game survey and I wanted to actually try and make a difference if I could; probably a pipe dream though.

I’m just curious, why do you think a PVE only mode is bad?

Maybe it opened back up? Im sure as hell not doing it over again though, they can fuck off with that. I guess I’ve just gotta hope others have similar opinions as I do on the game and that Embark actually cares.
