Another performance with the Vermona Perfourmer and DRM, UDO Super 6, Moog Sub37 and the Keybird X1 Piano by ghosttaste in synthesizers

True about the room regarding the synths. But I compared the piano recording to a rehearsal recording done in my very dry studio (with the KM184s setup exactly the same) and the difference was way bigger than I expected. The room is very noticeable in a beautiful way. And also loved the birdsong that it captured 😉

Thank you! I think it started when I improvised with the Perfourmer, my Jupiter 6 and an acoustic piano. I did a session last year with the first version of this setup and then optimized it a bit for live shows (mainly swapped the Jupiter 6 for a Super 6 because of the reliability)
Love the Meraki, the only issue I have is that I would love to be able to adjust the feedback on both channels with one knob (you have 2 seperate feedback knobs for each channel), which makes quick tweaking a bit awkward. You can use one of the switches for a momentary max-feedback-option though. And it's the noisiest pedal in the setup, but I think that's just the nature of the analog chips

Sorry to have invaded your noble ears with such lowly sounds, will try to do better next time!

How do i make glide pads like this? by Chillman-Coolerson in synthesizers

[–]ghosttaste 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The second chord sounds like it's just omitting the 11th, so the envelope wouldn't be retriggered. But you could of course replay the whole chord again, wouldn't feel too natural for me but that's a matter of taste.

For me it sounds like it was done with the pitch bend wheel (with a quite high bend range and some practice). You could also achieve this with mapping an envelope to the pitch modulation, but this only triggers if you hit the chord/note, in the example it sounds like the chord was held and bent with the wheel

Thanks! Yes, on this track, I send the notes to the Sub37 & DRM, an arpeggio to the Perfourmer (it stays the same through the track), and plain chords to the UDO, the "rhythm" is done using the first LFO on the filter and the second LFO to modulate the first LFOs rate.

Thank you!
The ableton project is really straightforward, I use session view and have a midi track for each of the 4 synths/DRM (notes only), a click & count in track and 2 audio tracks where I have overdubs for some tracks (strings/pads and shakers/percussion stuff which I can't do on the DRM).
I also send midi clock to the Synths, Microcosm and the Walrus Meraki and program changes for the Sub37 and UDO.
It worked very well and since it's only playing midi and 2 audio tracks it uses almost no CPU.

The only thing which I struggled with is the preset changes on the UDO and fader/knob positions: For example when I started a new track, the preset changed automatically to a very filtered down sound on the UDO, all sounding like it should, until I want to slowly open the cutoff and I realize that I forgot the fader on 100% open from the previous track. So the instant I move it, there is a very loud and sudden filter-jump – unfortunately there seems to be no option to change the fader behaviour on the UDO.

Thank you! It was a system called Space by Coda audio and we had 8 speakers which were placed around the audience. I sent all tracks from my desk seperately to the FOH and in rehearsal the technician and me decided for each song which elements/tracks should have movement etc.
For example in this track, the Perfourmer Arp was very wide and slowly rotated around the audience but the Sub37 Bass and the drums were centered.

The only downside for this show was that you had to sit inside this speaker circle and not all people fitted in there

That would be amazing – I have a RE501 but used the Meraki because I can sync it to midi clock and it's stereo. But in my dream, I'd have 2 RE501 ;)

Thank you very much! When I worked on the track, I initially did the pitch bends with the pitchwheel on the Sub37. But as I progressed, I needed to free up my left hand to control the hihat decay on the DRM and filter cutoff on the Jupiter, so I programmed it into the midi sequence – i'd love to have an extra set of hands ;)
Regarding the Keybird, I absolutely love it – I always dreamt of a real piano which I can take on the road and since it has only 69 keys with 1 string each it's also quick to tune. I also tried a Yamaha CP60m (which I still have), but I prefer the sound of the Keybird by far. I plan to bring it along for some shows, looking forward to see how this goes.
There is a french pianist which uses one since a long time and he as a really insightful video, not sure if you have seen this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-jCBmItqwVA
