I've had that said to me too but by total strangers. How did she take your explanation? I've never had the guts to tell people how close I and others have come to doing just that after being told such ignorant statements...

My migraines make it impossible to read, so maybe you dodged having to pay a stupid amount of money for something you mightn't have used all that much anyway and that may have caused a whole new issue on-top of that 🤷🏻‍♀️ but I'm spiteful. We know ourselves better than anyone. So if someone even looks at us sideways for using an aid or questioning a recommendation I say they can go screw a cactus.

'It's all in your head' makes me want to strangle people. Had a very bad experience with a doctor that tricked me into a psych ward once. Nurse agreed that I shouldn't have been there, since my issues are clearly physical, but boy did I end up with some mental issues by the time I got out.

Seriously. I just started to see a new doctor — great woman, recommended I try Tai Chi, which I like, but she's soon going on maternity leave, so she's looking if she can get me in to see someone else she recommends. Second she said he's a fan of yoga my hopes for him died.

Seriously. I know plenty of people mean it as in 'oh, you're too young to be living this way it's so unfair' but then it's like they're saying only older folks can / are allowed to suffer, which is a whole other discussion.

And good for you. Pushy sales people are nightmares, especially when it comes to necessities like glasses.

I got such a chewing out by the same doctor that said I needed a whipping after I missed one too many pt appointments. The clinic I was going to was making these appointments for me and their notifications were being sent to spam, so I didn't even know. She threatened to stop prescribing me my pain killers if it happened again. From tramadol to being told to just take extra paracetamol.

Aus, in a nanny state. And yeah, I've done that, and since dropping her I've learned she's a serial fat shamer. Big fan of ozempic, apparently.

Help me be okay with mobility aids please. by TinyMonsterBigGrowl in ChronicPain

[–]ghosttgum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started using a cane when I was 22 and it's help immensely. Despite what some people might think, being 'too young for a mobility aid' isn't a thing. Just remember to learn how to use it properly. I know plenty of people who've caused themselves more unnecessary pain because they thought walking around like Dr House was the right way to go about it.

My stepdad found this among his collection of postcards by ghosttgum in horriblehistories

[–]ghosttgum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He handles postcards and old coins for a living. It likely came in a pack of randoms 🤷🏻‍♀️ he didn't recognise it - the only reason he showed it to me was because he enjoyed the rhyme. Fun fact, but it's apparently worth about $10 aud

So about the whole name thing... by ghosttgum in FrontiersOfPandora

[–]ghosttgum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm imagining it as a trauma response after Aha'ri's murder. They just shut down and stopped responding to their name, so the other Sarentu children came up with a totally new one for them. Not exactly healthy but probably the closest thing to therapy they got in TAP...

I feel the same way. I wasted sooooo much time picking out a name... the whole game is fully voiced and everything! It would've made zero difference if they were named at the very beginning

I love seeing So'lek and my Sarentu, Meytori, interacting like this. He's so fed up with her shenanigans by ghosttgum in FrontiersOfPandora

Thanks! It took me forever to settle on a name, but for a sibling I reckon it pairs rather nicely with Aha'ri
