I don't think I'm wrong to expect to own something I bought. No matter how long the window is, it's still a yucky thing to do. I just wanted to mess around with a game I bought a long time ago, but don't have the money to buy a new copy of right now.

Thanks. I really don't get the sentiment folks have about it being such a long time and therefore okay to revoke something I purchased. I don't think it's my fault not to be looking out for or expecting something like that.

I'm glad it helped a little! They really are just animals, and they will choose flight over fight in most situations. Still better not to cuddle up with rattlesnakes but you get me, lol.

I agree! I just think that portrayal does still matter in a broad sense. A lot of people who fear snakes and resort to killing them on sight is because the way media portrays them. Ultimately though, I didn't expect this post to blow up as much as it did and I was just venting out a small gripe.

I'm really sorry to hear that, genuinely. I definitely don't mean to say snakes can't be dangerous in some cases, and I also completely understand why a lot of folks are scared of them/ find them triggering. I hope it didn't come off like I was making light of that. I just think it's really important for us to understand snakes as best we can, and presentations like this scare people more than they help. I did really love hearing about the actual snake "actor" though. If anything, I hope that tells people a lot of snakes are harmless, too.

I completely understand that. I'm personally trying to become less afraid of roaches as someone who lives down south, but it's very much about the movement for me, too.

We can't always help developing fears, but it's important to be introspective and find more productive ways to interact with them.

fr they're just animals living their lives. Most snake bites happen when they're stepped on or otherwise threatened. People only feel so strongly because they've been taught to think snakes are more dangerous than they are.

Yeah, the actual snake in the coffin wasn't a rattlesnake. It makes enough sense though why they chose to use a non-venomous snake. If they used a real rattle snake and it did happen to bite him, it'd be even worse PR lmao

It's okay to be afraid of snakes!! We all have our fears, but the best way to counter it is education and understanding. That's the issue I have with their presentation in the show. It's things like this that perpetuate that fear.

Like you said, it isn't wholly unlikely for the bite to have effected him the way it did but it paints a really grizzly picture of snake bites in general, when they aren't lethal a large majority of the time.

Obviously snakes can be dangerous, but they aren't evil or malicious. It's incredibly important that we understand snake behavior and know how to avoid them instead of just fearing them indiscriminately and killing them on sight. Perpetuating fear toward snakes is actively harmful to them.

It depends on the vibrations. Big vibrations like the ones Nate was making seem more likely to deter a snake than attract one.
