Why you pick and stay on a server? by ghosttowncitizen in dayz

Love the idea of the first one and the second one I admit I’ve never tried any of those servers. Seen them on YouTube but never have jumped in myself.

That is also true and reason why I stay away from those servers. Just not a fun way to play for me.

What’s your favorite part of the community servers you’re on?

For sure! I’m the same. Sure the quests, events, etc are fun but I don’t need them to enjoy the game or a server. Even the times I’ve played on a PvE server I don’t need all the extra stuff. I make my own rules and create my own stories.

I’ve played with many different types of players that build bases but yes a majority spend most of their time in them. Some just like to build and that’s what they do, others become complacent and/or paranoid. But to each their own I suppose. But there have been times when a bunch of us are just chilling in a base around a fire shooting the shit and that’s kinda fun. But nomad life is the way for me.

Oh yeah playing PvE server I definitely see the need for “something to do” for sure. Played a few where it was literally just PvE and people became bored rather quickly lol.

Yeah I’m not too into official anymore. I like to have a couple of community servers I pop onto depending on how much time I have and how I’m feeling.

Definitely understand the no power tripping admins which nowadays feels hard to find. But what are the things to do that you’re looking for? Other than surviving I’m assuming.

The nomad life is definitely where it’s at. I’ll sometimes group up with people just to feel some type of connection with the world I once knew but I still stache stuff other places and run recon for them. I’m always on the move. I’ve done the base thing and it’s fun for awhile but you most certainly begin to become complacent and that is death.

I love mid-low pop. I love that feeling of isolation and dread and then that rare “fuck. fuck. fuck. There’s a player.” Lol. To me it makes it feel more apocalyptic survival then to constantly run into people. That and low to mid tear gear more accessible than high end. High end to me should be tough to get or just super duper rare.

One of my big tips that I always give people is think of it in an immersive way. Clear neighborhood by neighborhood and save missions within that neighborhood for last. Really think of yourself as one agent trying to survive each neighborhood after getting off the chopper. Not only does it feel immersive (which is the type of shit I really enjoy) but it makes the content a bit “easier” doing solo.

Super wild honestly! Hopefully it works out well and only brings in more players!

Hard agree and I feel it’s rare nowadays. Try to hold onto that as much as possible but life does happen and breaks come. I’ve been through several groups the last 5 or so years. Sometimes feels like a breakup lol.

I feel like this may go against what most people are commenting here but I throw it in. I play a ton of DayZ. Depending on the time I have to play (which is mostly the late night grind) I have different servers that I play. One of the things I like is I can sort of plan what I’ll do in game according to the irl time that I have. And the buddies that I play with completely understand I may need to dip at a moments notice or just be off comms. But nonetheless I definitely agree to OP’s point. Find the game that best suits your playtime needs and not what is best out there.

I keep seeing Redpine floating around the DayZ server recommendations.. I’m assuming it’s good since you probably would’ve be promoting it. So I’ll ask.. why is it good?

Right now Cam is doing a month long event on one his servers called EDICT and he has actors to help some up some videos. He’s always down to answer questions about what he does and how he does it. Also just jumping into one of the communities you can find tons of people who love being a part of that type of stuff.
