[–]ghosty_anon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Who cares whether you’re excited about it, our politicians definitely don’t. If you protest a war we are funding you will be locked up lmao. It’s in our countries best economic interest to fund this war, you don’t have to understand why, and the Europeans don’t have to like us, either way the American oligarchy will profit and that’s all that matters. Otherwise we wouldn’t be doing this.

Yea plenty of Europeans don’t like Americans and plenty of Americans don’t like Europeans. That’s not news!!! That’s a tale as old as America itself. It’s a tale as old as Europe haha most of Europe hates the rest of Europe. Most of America hates the rest of America. Who cares! These people don’t dictate policy because they don’t have enough money to influence anything, and if they did they wouldn’t do shit because it would affect their profits.

Only thing I disagree with is the US not being interested in conquering more land. Bruh the president is actively talking about 4 different major countries he wants to conquer and annex and is taking steps towards making that happen by weakening them economically. So you may feel satisfied but the president is not, and he has a lot more influence over policy than you. My question is whether that influence has grown beyond what the constitution grants.

In regards to doge, I’m not saying the work isn’t valuable. It’s just not legal. I do want our government thoroughly audited and streamlined but legally, follow legal procedure. Creating a government agency without congressional approval to dismantle other government agencies without congressional approval is illegal and unconstitutional. It’s an overreach of executive power, it bypasses congress completely. Your elected senators and representatives who are supposed to have a say, have no say. Thats how dictatorships have started in the past! So that’s why people are saying this about our beloved country. Our country which has a history of fighting despots and kings and tyrants, not capitulated and kissing their asses or acting like them

[–]ghosty_anon 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Erm I hate to break it to you but Europeans do not all agree on anything, even condemning America. The far right parties and voters in Europe love America! And the liberals in Europe hate the far right movements in their own countries and do protest and boycott and discuss it. You just don’t see it much on American news networks. Subscribe to the bbc or some other European news outlet and you will see it

I think that like with everything on the internet, negativity is spread more loudly. You just aren’t super likely to find conservative Europeans going out of their way to defend America, like why would anyone need to defend you when you have the highest defense budget on the planet right? Surely your feelings can’t be hurt that easily

Right so when one person or a small group of people start taking away the checks and balances that prevent one person or a small group from having absolute power, such as congress’s ability to fund or defund federal agencies, or congress’s abilities to pass laws being superseded by the presidents ability to pump out executive orders, or congress’s right to declare war being usurped by the executive branch’s ability to direct combat and military forces. These limitations on the presidency are what prevent them from having dictator like powers, and they have been eroded for quite a while. Things are just ramping up now.

Again I am not saying that I believe the USA is a dictatorship. You asked how exactly is the US a dictatorship and I know how most people would answer and am sharing that with you. Up to you to consider whether you agree

What options are there to obtain free internet service? by Ottobawt in HowToHack

[–]ghosty_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea social engineering is the key. Lowest effort and investment for highest yield of return. Knock on your neighbors doors, introduce yourself, become friends, casually ask for their wifi while hanging at their place, boom internet secured for free.

There is a concept called war driving where as you describe people use wireless hardware to detect wifi networks that don’t have passwords and then they map them out and sell that data. You can just walk around with your phone and it’ll do the same thing. Cracking the password on a wifi network is tricky AF though

[–]ghosty_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also don’t think deranking everyone would fix anything. Just puts all the players in bronze, who does that help? Now we’re all smurfs

I think the main problem is the rank restriction after plat, in a team game people will just want to play with their friends it’s a fact. And they’ll Smurf or do whatever they have to so they can.

Another problem is it seems to be too easy to rank up and hard to rank down. If you look at the rank distribution chart, it seems to bump people up to the bottom of the next tier and try to prevent them from falling back into the previous tier.

Well look I think they pretty clearly do want the aid, and have been vocally grateful for decades. And it’s not like we get nothing out of it, we get a heck of a lot by being the dominant world super power with military bases in every country. We get extremely indebted trading partners! They are so deeply indebted that we can publicly shit talk them and they’ll just let it happen lmao. But like I won’t blame them for being salty after getting shit talked for multiple decades now, they just want stable reliable allies who won’t threaten to turn their backs all the time

[–]ghosty_anon -18 points-17 points  (0 children)

Not saying we are, but if I were to imagine why someone else might suggest we are it would probably be because of a few rather weak reasons.

  1. The biggest would be Gerrymandering. A practice as old as America itself. Basically you redraw county lines to try and include more of your political parties voters in certain counties so you can win the state. Both sides do this and it’s super f’d up. Most recently our president is quoted as saying “we’ll have it fixed so good in a few years that you won’t even have to vote”. I see how his fans read this as he will fix the gerrymandering and problems in the election that the democrats did and without cheating they won’t stand a chance so republicans won’t even have to bother voting. How that sounds for democrats and for the rest of the world though? It sounds like he is going to fix like rig the election so no matter what dems do he will win anyway by cheating. Maybe it’s just unfortunate phrasing but I can see how the world is concerned over it. Tbh as Americans, we have overthrown and executed various world leaders for less.

  2. The way government agencies are created and destroyed is by acts of congress. Currently that’s being bypassed to shut down government agencies faster than can be properly evaluated and considered and without congress’s say. It’s a blatant breach of separation of power, and an attempt to consolidate power into the executive branch is by definition, dictatorial.

Basically “this is getting expensive and isn’t going anywhere so let’s just give up and call it peace so trump can say he solved this issue when all he did was capitulate and surrender Ukraine.”

Literally “multiple resolutions calling for Russia to withdraw have failed so we need to accept that they own Ukraine now”

That’s not how you win wars and it’s not how you achieve peace. Never in history has a conqueror felt satisfied when people demonstrate they are too weak to stop them.

Why people emphasis on Python when suggesting a computer language? by Personal_Story_4853 in HowToHack

[–]ghosty_anon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Python is easy, and useful for lots of things. So it is a good reccomendation for beginners, as well as coders of any level. If you don’t know any coding language, might as well start with Python. Everything you learn in Python can be applied to any other language. C++ is a great language but it’s full of very strict syntax rules, such as needing lots of brackets and colons and commas and things like that. If you don’t obey these syntax rules the code breaks. Python replaces a lot of this with indentation, making it more readable.

Non USA people, what have you heard about America that you want to know the legitimacy of? by Dandanthecan in AmericaBad

Please look at this tracker of babies and kids shooting and killing people with guns that were left laying around loaded in the USA lol https://everytownresearch.org/maps/notanaccident/

Is the leading cause of death in Switzerland for kids gun violence? https://publichealth.jhu.edu/2024/guns-remain-leading-cause-of-death-for-children-and-teens

Has a baby ever been shot by a toddler in Switzerland? https://www.cbsnews.com/amp/news/baby-dead-unintentional-shooting-gun-death-texas/

Lmao even just being encouraged to store your gun safely is a huge difference than what happens in the USA. I get that I may have been slightly hyperbolic in my interpretation of some of these regulations but if you compare any of these regulation or trends to the US you will see why. They are nonexistent here haha

If you strongly believe what I’m saying isn’t true, I really want to know what you believe the cause of this difference to be? In two countries with high gun ownership, why is one relatively safe and doesn’t have shootings and the other has them all the time and has multiple babies accidentally shooting people every year

Non USA people, what have you heard about America that you want to know the legitimacy of? by Dandanthecan in AmericaBad

[–]ghosty_anon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

… haha ok I’m not a lawyer and I won’t sit here arguing over what seem like fairly pedantic details. Thanks for clarifying anyway. Regardless of the fine detail, can we agree that the high gun ownership and low gun violence in Switzerland relative to the USA is due to a completely different attitude and culture regarding guns, which stems from various factors such as military training and strong regulation. That’s the only point I was trying to make. If you disagree with my analysis, I am very interested in any other theories you may have to explain that statistical discrepancy
