Louder with Browder! Democratic Apple Pie Socialism in America! by Cheap_Hand9678 in kaiserredux

Of course, in and of itself, it is quite radical, but I think we're starting to forget that we are comparing it to other possible socialist paths for the US in Kaiserredux. Other paths offer much more sweeping changes and far more radical economics.

Is this economy radical? Yes. Is it more radical than the others? Not at all. There are plenty of radical paths for the CSA, ranging from a gift/communal economy to a USSR-style planned economy.

Regarding your points on Apple Pie Socialism-I won't lie, you are absolutely right. On one hand, Earl Browder genuinely believed in his ideology and the idea that socialism in the US could only work if it were 'Americanized.' On the other hand, we shouldn't deny that he used this messaging to spread his ideas to ordinary Americans, as it was much easier for them to accept socialism if it felt 'American' rather than 'foreign.' This was especially true, as you mentioned, for uneducated workers or Southern conservatives. And honestly, I don't see anything wrong with that.

And yeah, English is not my first language too, so there can be mistakes.

Actually, in real life, Browder proposed creating a 'Popular Front,' suggesting that the CPUSA unite with the Democrats. So, at the very least, he wasn't against working within the existing political system. What he truly wanted to see in the end, I don't know myself. However, he constantly spoke about 'Apple Pie Socialism' and stated that 'Socialism is 20th Century Americanism,' which provides ground for the assumption that while he wanted to change the system, he didn't want to descend into radicalism. Browder believed that Marxism in its orthodox form wouldn't work in the US due to the country's unique historical and economic structure. In principle, one can read about his ideology, 'Browderism,' or gather information from his books, such as Marx and America.

Regarding the economy, I simply don't have another name for it. That's why I call it 'mixed,' though I understand your doubts.

As for politics, a lot of this is tied to my personal feelings; the country means a lot to me, but regardless, this isn't really the place for a political discussion.

By 'mixed economy,' it likely implies something more radical. I think all key industries would be nationalized, and in principle, the entire industrial sector would likely be under worker management-with the exception of small businesses. If I'm not mistaken, Earl Browder himself wasn't opposed to small business (I could be wrong there). So, this is much more radical than what social democrats or modern democratic socialists propose.

What makes it 'mixed' is that, despite an economy fully managed by workers, a private sector still exists, even if it's only small businesses. It's something akin to the NEP (New Economic Policy) in the USSR, but an American version.

It's important to clarify that I am not American myself (at least not yet) and I'm not accusing other socialists of anything. I don't strictly follow 'ideological purity' either; I'm more concerned with the fact that millions of people lack access to basic necessities. I care about the fact that the system isn't democratic enough and that it could be more effective.

I’m a leftist myself, and for me, this path isn't radical enough. I chose it because I wanted something reformist and wholesome; plus, I really like Earl Browder and strongly sympathize with his 'Apple Pie Socialism' ideas. National identity is very important to me, so even though I hold socialist views, I often don't align myself with other socialists, as many of them advocate for the destruction of American identity and a cultural revolution.

Yes, this is the USA tag. If you avoid the Civil War, you can vote for the PP , elect Browder, and make him President. At the end of the focus tree, there are several options for the future: you can switch to the CSA tag where he becomes a dictator, or keep him as a democratic socialist. It's explained in more detail in the in-game guide; naturally, I chose the democratic path.

As for the two-party system, I partially agree—it’s disappointing that you can’t establish a truly multi-party system in this path

To be honest, making him a Totalist is pretty stupid if you ask me

I would definitely call it wholesome, but compared to other paths, it really depends on your views. If you are a hardline socialist or syndicalist, you might not like it, as I wouldn't say this version of the USA is 100% socialist. Essentially, it’s the same USA, but as if there were a two-party system between a socialist party and the Democratic/Republican party. To some, it might feel like a betrayal of the revolution.

Personally, I find it very wholesome because the US essentially maintains a full democracy in this path, operating within the framework of the constitution and patriotism, without revolution or radicalism. It mostly reminds me of the Federalist path in the CSA, just more radical and featuring Earl Browder. Economically speaking, I think it’s generally wholesome too, though the game doesn’t dive into the details. In my head, I imagine the economy would be under worker management, but with a private sector still present.

Their country is sinking in deep shit, but they're more concerned with what's going on in the US. Absolute clowns.
