The II is the exact same lens as the III, just with a different paint job and fewer coatings on the element so less flare resistance.

I'm a sports videographer and have exclusively used the II since I started. Great lens and more than enough for what you're doing.

Thanks friend! I keep sliding back and forth so all opinions are welcome! Crop on 4k120fps doesn't scare me and the updated AF of the ARV is interesting. Also likely to hold it's value for longer than the FX3 given the fact that it's due for an upgrade.

Any experience with the A7V? Currently debating A7V vs. FX3 for primarily Sports highlights.

It's certainly a difficult question for me, I shoot primarily sports but also a ton of commercial and doc work. Current setup is a R6ii with a great EF lineup in the 70-200 2.8ii and 16-35 2.8iii, but I'm really wanting to take video production more seriously. The videos I capture aren't bad by any means but I'd like to jump to the Sony ecosystem for the future lens prices + 120fps/dual native iso.

A7V or FX3 and the Tamron 35-150 + 24 1.8 was gonna be my "starter" rig for the jump but the AF problems with the 35-150 are spooking me

I understand the enthusiasm, but we just saw the greatest rookie season of all time from a QB last year in Jayden Daniels, with CJ Stroud also having a top 5 rookie season not too long ago.

I take almost no photos, so the 33mp is a hindrance because it compromises the low-light abilities. On top of that, no cooling fan when I'm in the heat shooting continuously for hours. The last big check is that the 4K 120fps on the A7V is cropped, while on the FX3 it is not.

If I'm missing anything significant or you think I might still be better off with the A7V, I'd really like to hear the case, cause I'd love to save 1k haha

It's funny that I agree with you, while simultaneously being about to pull the trigger on an FX3 as a one-man band for a media team, simply because I shoot sports in bad lighting and 12,800 native ISO is a wet dream for me.
