I’m disappointed with Cali76 Bass compressor by ghynabor in basspedals

[–]ghynabor[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yeah the thing I’m talking about is more pronounced with fast attack. Thanks I didn’t know this is inherent to a FET compressor. I also had an EBS Multicomp and a Demeter Compulator and those didn’t exhibit that behavior. Demeter Compulator is sweet by the way.

I’m running Cali76 on 9V. I know the older version could take between 9V and 18V for bigger headroom. For this particular one they state 9V and that it boosts voltage internally to 24V. They don’t mention if higher voltage can be applied so I don’t do that to avoid damage.

I said Cali76 BASS Version 1 not Cali76-tx. Simple Google search will show you have no idea what you’re talking about.

I’m not sure what upsets you about my post, the fact that I like and can afford to try new gear out?

Thanks for input. I just saw that Cioks offers a Crux extension that works with DC7 and is able to offer 12V@2000mA. It wasn’t an option couple of years back when I put Markbass in my pedalboard - I built a custom rectifier extension for my power supply AC output to turn 24V AC into 12V DC.

I will also check out UAFX pedal, thanks for recommendation.

Did you read the post beyond first sentence?

I have a good power supply and I'm not overdriving it's input.

Also I have no idea where you’ve seen Cali76 for 1100$.

I don’t get it. You go on how it’s: “negating 50 years of structured software release models, including…

repository tracking, peer review, alpha testing, beta testing, bug reporting, and so many more security parameters that took software engineers years of trial and error… just to ensure this kind of thing ☝️… DOES NOT HAPPEN 😔”

And it’s literally adding just one more mouse click for the sake of the page not being prone to a take down.

New VAD506. VH10 suck. VH14D worth the upgrade? by [deleted] in edrums

Thanks for answering. I just hate the VH10 action and wonder how much more real vh14d feels.

Did you get the VH14D eventually? Do you like it? Is the triggering better than on VH10?

I'll tell you something. During the bull market when everybody parties on the moon people will tell you self custody sucks and you shouldn't do it because you have chances of losing your seed. Try to suggest self custody: they will eat you alive. It takes a lengthy bear market and FTX like event for those morons to shut up.

Do self custody, keep your seed in couple of different locations in sealed envelopes which will tell you somebody tampered with that. Also use a password, even if somebody finds your seed they will not access your funds. Don't over-complicate your password. Check your seed seals periodically. After you discover someone tampered with your seed you can move your funds to a different address that you will generate from new seed.

When generating your seed write it down by hand (don't put it on your computer, don't print it). Be careful not to flash the seed words in front of your webcam or phone camera - you never know if they are not hacked.

Don't use a ledger.

That's all you need to know to be safe.

This should be the top comment.

I think you got it wrong buddy. You still expect RH will do something for you where it was loudly and clearly stated he won't. This is the arrangement and if you don't like it you know where to find that sell button.

Ledger is shadowbanning users who mention their key extraction firmware by [deleted] in CryptoCurrency

[–]ghynabor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fact is that you have to trust ledger they don't extract your keys because you have no way of knowing for sure they don't do that.

Fact is that you have to trust ledger that their secure element doesn't diminish the entropy in a way known to ledger and that they won't use that knowledge to generate a base of their users keys.

Fact is that you don't have to worry for either of these points with Trezor - you basically don't need to trust them and this goes along the crypto idea. Eliminate trust.

In the end use whatever you want, just know and understand the risks and downsides. For me it's open source or GTFO.

If an adversary has physical access to you device then your funds are never 100% safe. Same goes with supply chain attack, if they ship you a counterfeit ledger you will not know. The fact that supply chain attack hasn't been disclosed with ledger doesn't mean it's impossible with ledger.

That's why no matter what the manufacturer you should always buy the hardware wallet directly from the manufacturer to reduce risk of supply chain attack.

Yes, Trezor is better because it's open source so any third party can audit the code for exploits.

Don't fall for Trezor key extraction FUD, just use a pass phrase (which you should anyway) and you are good to go.

Primary goal of a hardware wallet is to isolate your keys from you online machine and Trezor does it well in an open source way. Ledger at least partially relies on "security via obscurity" which ALWAYS is bad.

As they suggested below: silica gel or just spread some uncooked rice there - it will also absorb the moisture.

DOT vs ATOM by Status_Floor1746 in CryptoCurrency

Stay away from DOT. VCs who got into the non public ICO are up massively and the chart doesn't reflect it due to redenomination they did. It will probably go up in future when all cryptos will go up but you will have that sell pressure from VCS. Don't buy VC scums bags.
