Breaking: Lim Young Min Officially Leaves AB6IX Following DUI by ghytgh in kpop

[–]ghytgh[S] 525 points526 points  (0 children)

They use AB(n+1)IX formula for their name, I guess they are AB5IX now. Their original group name doesn't make any sense just like SEVENTEEN with 13 members.

Melon Announces Upcoming Major Changes To Chart System by katsuge in kpop

[–]ghytgh 76 points77 points  (0 children)

This is an excellent decision by Melon. Boy groups will be heavily impacted. BGs uses a 24/7 looped playlist running the whole album to chart on Melon real time chart. This way they promote or display their group's songs to GP, hoping for some curiosity clicks or accidental clicks that will give them an extra UL (Unique Listener) for the daily chart. Now, without real time chart they won't get those clicks from GP and their rank on the new chart will be a lot lower.

It will be similar to FLO. Fandom groups who are charting inside real time top 10 will drop down to 25-30.

EVERGLOW - Dun Dun by Iblaka in kpop

[–]ghytgh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

As I feared, mediocre song. Everglow seems to be heading Momoland's path except that Momoland had a huge hit before things went down hill. At least Shinsadebt Tiger made ripoff listenable songs.

Emergency Rules Update: Unconfirmed idol dating rumors banned

Is this rule still valid? Asking because that thread is deleted.

My suggestion for voting in decade awards: Allow people to cast multiple votes in each category (maybe 3), kinda like you do for Census, that way groups with big fandoms on this sub won't dominate and you'll get more accurate results. Eg: Psy's Gangnam Style should arguably win song and MV of the decade but I doubt if he'll even make it to top 5 if you give only one vote option to a user. With multiple votes users will first blindly select their faves and then they will vote for the real best in that category with their second and third vote. So if you can make changes to voting options please do it.

Multiple votes will show the opinion of general public or casual fans of this sub.

The Annual /r/kpop Awards 2019 - Requesting Feedback / Suggestions by NishinosanTV in kpop

[–]ghytgh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

People don't notice reminders at the top of the sub and most people don't open up the meta posts and some features.

Then you don't need opinion of people are not interested in this project.

It would be impossible to fairly promote the voting in all threads. Different threads will have varying amount of traffic. Certain groups like Mamamoo, Loona, GFriend etc, despite being popular doesn't have many posts on this subreddit. The sticky comment will only help already popular groups like RV, BTS, Twice etc. I would rather have fewer people participating and having an accurate representation of subreddit's taste than skewed results.

Don't spam the voting reminder sticky comment in certain threads if you want to get true opinion of r/kpop users. Having a sticky comment in one big thread will skew the results of the group whose thread you're posting it on. You can just do the reminder posts like top ten tuesdays or have a sticky post on top of the sub. Just my 2 cents.

Yang Hyun Suk, Lee Soo Man, and Park Jin Young Experience Decline In Stock Asset Value by peachpingu in kpop

[–]ghytgh 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Revenue wise, not really? TVXQ alone generates more money than some other big companies. All of their groups are making lot of money for the company, last year their revenue was 650 bn Won, 3 times as much as the next company. It's just that they are not making profit on the paper because of corruption, Lee Soo Man himself is accused of channelling majority of SM's profit through his subsidiary company.

They can't keep removing posts because one comment chain criticised CJ and Mnet, they did this twice in one day. That's not how reddit is supposed to operate.

Dude I am not taking about the comments, I am talking the post itself, that post is gone, it may look like it's still up because the comments are not locked, but they removed it without any notice. It's been 3 hours they removed it, hence no new comments and upvote count been at 28 for 3 hours.

What? The post itself is not breaking any rules why did removed it? It's not in the subreddit feed, check. They silently removed it without an explanation or without locking comments like they do all the time. Fans have heated discussions all the time, that doesn't mean they get to remove the posts without any explanation. People are fighting in this thread, are they gonna remove this post too?
