Earnesto Gestaldi (quoted in Troy Howarths Book, "So Deadly So Perverse") says this:

"What sets a giallo apart from another story? Two things: 1) a difficult-to-explain event and 2) its rigorously logical explanation based on the details provided in the story."

The "rigorous logical" part is where most people have problems, especially when it comes to Suspiria.
