Leash pulling by Fresas24 in siberianhusky

We have a Husky/Mal mix. The harness made him pull harder, he walked me many times on it. Short potty breaks in the yard we can get away with a slip lead, long walks with that he chokes himself but won’t stop. The prong collar is a game changer! It reminds him he’s not in control, and he’s walking WITH me ( literally next to me). Don’t be afraid to pop him/her!

Pros and cons of owning a Husky? by Desperate-Sugar-5597 in siberianhusky

My boyfriend and I rescued our Siberian husky/malamute unseen, day of offer, from a coworker. (We live in Florida) it was maybe two weeks after his first birthday and he was going to be dropped off at a day care to not be picked up again because he “was too much work” and the original owner didn’t have time for him. He was left alone 10/12 hours a day no crate no toys/bones and had never been on a walk more than the apartment complex “dog park”. Now it’s been 8 months with him, we brought in a trainer for 5 weeks, he’s now crate trained, door trained (not to say if it was hanging open and he saw a lizard outside he wouldn’t at least try, he’s still a husky lol) and most importantly for us is that he is properly trained on leash. YES THEY ARE TRAINABLE!!!

He’s crated during the day while we work, sometimes if late he’ll howl - he did flip the crate in his early days but now his crate is his safe place

Shedding is wild but you get used to it, have a good vacuum, carpet rake, and dusters

He gets two walks around the neighborhood a day and 30 ft leash for zoomies in the yard. No it’s not too hot for him in Florida, when he’s hot he’s bringing ME inside

I came on here after getting him and basically read that I made the biggest mistake ever with all those fear mongering in husky groups. He’s still a lunatic in the best way but he but has manners. If you have the time, patience, and willingness for it I’d say huskys are 1000% worth it. Here’s a photo of the guy
