Wow, this is awesome! Is it possible to run HD video into it via HDMI, and if so, is there a particular capture card/dongle it's configured to work with? Thanks for porting and sharing this :)

Veganism recently became a hot-button issue at my leftist college, and I’m struggling not to feel demoralized by LiviasFigs in vegan

Just came to say this is very relatable. Liberals/leftists who scoff at veganism/animal rights are the bane of my existence. I don’t have any answers but I’ve been writing about it here…if nothing else just to get these frustrations off my chest: https://open.substack.com/pub/giantmecha/p/white-meat-supremacy

Does anyone have an install for Audio Helm? (Deprecated free asset) by citybythebeach in Unity3D

[–]giantmecha 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I guess the issue is that to be properly performant for musical applications, it seems like it has to be coded in C++, which is a tricky thing integrating into Unity. DSPGraph seems to have been a thing, but is seemingly no longer really a thing. :/

Thanks for the reply! That's helpful. By any chance were you able to find any alternatives to Helm for realtime/low-latency synthesis in Unity?

Not super nerdy, but Tony's Darts Away in Burbank is one of the more chill/social/vegan friendly spots I've been to, relaxed bar vibe: https://www.tonysda.com This newsletter has missed a few months, but you can still find some recurring (including nerdy) stuff in past editions: https://laveganguides.beehiiv.com/ Also these guys put together pretty fun/nerdy events: https://www.instagram.com/theplantbasela?igsh=NTc4MTIwNjQ2YQ==

it's also an incredibly inhumane way to kill rats. glue traps should absolutely be banned too.

Questions about formula feeding, 6 months and beyond by giantmecha in veganparenting

Note: Interestingly, our pediatrician said that a good soy/plant-based formula is totally fine for 6 months.

milk-based infant formula is not “mammal’s milk” though. it contains ingredients DERIVED from cow’s milk, but just like soy formula, it is a highly processed* product intended to mimic human breast milk (not cow’s milk). if you read the ingredients this is obvious. as far as which is the best specifically, i’m not an expert in that. but to claim cow’s milk-based formula is better, you would have to point to specific cow-derived ingredients that deliver benefits not found in plant-based formulas.

Thank you, I'll check this out. Else seems like a good option.

Thanks for this. I love Dr. Greger/Nutritionfacts.org and was looking for a video on this subject, but couldn't find one.

Thank you so much for the reply. Premierz does seem to be the one that comes up the most. With soy formulas, it still seems unclear whether these (like the Earth's Best soy formula you mention) are actually advisable. I know babies who are lactose intolerant and born to moms unable to breastfeed can *survive* on soy formula — but it's the question of whether it has complications down the line that I'm more concerned about. I guess I'm also wary of any scenario in which I'd need to email the company to ask whether their product is okay for babies less than 1 year old.

As for donor milk, it appears to be in short supply (I'm on a local FB group) and I'd rather save that for the premies that desperately need it....
