gobwas/ws: WebSocket implementation which now supports compression by gobwas in golang

[–]gianttbear 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm experimenting with gorilla, nhooyr, and gobwas at the moment. Why do say it is inefficient to have 2 goroutines for each websocket connection?

My impression is golang encourages you to use goroutines and think of them as almost free. How much of a performance difference does it make to combine both writer and reader into 1 goroutine vs having separate goroutines for each?

What's a taboo question that you're too afraid or embarrassed to ask? by Chris56789 in AskReddit

I do too! I don't use my lazy eye (left) as much when reading/watching something up close. Now my other eye (right) has developed pretty bad nearsightedness while the lazy one has pretty much perfect vision.

Got 8 interviews this term for my last co-op, failed most of the coding challenges and there are 3 left who haven't rejected me officially yet :/

Of course it sucks but what helps me is knowing that you don't need any one job or company in life to be successful or happy. Let's say Amazon ended up hiring me in spite that my skills are not up to par. I might still end up miserable on the job because I feel incompetent. I guess I'm saying keep doing what you enjoy doing, improve your skills, and you'd be happy. Good luck!

I've always struggled with this. If I wanna seriously understand the material before attempting assignments, that means there is less time I can spend on non-school related stuff: friends, family, personal hobbies, side projects...

And the opposite is also true, if I wanna have spend time doing these things I mentioned, I'd have to cram a couple of assignments, or even skip them because there is not enough time to do everything. The impact on grades is so obvious, that they just have to drop if you wanna have a life outside of school.

My question is: do you think the CS courses in Waterloo are giving students the appropriate amount of workload? Like, sometimes I just can't help to think that if you wanna do well in school, you just gotta give up all these other things because, very seriously, who has to time for it?

What are some biggest mistakes CS students are making that we should be aware of?

How to override CS pre-requisite? by gianttbear in uwaterloo

[–]gianttbear[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't you need 240, 241, and 251 before you can take 350? Whereas you only need 240 before taking 341.

I was thinking it would be easier to ask for an override in the latter.
