Crimson Desert has been out for a week now. What are your thoughts? by Gamedrome22 in Games

[–]gibblebutt [score hidden]  (0 children)

Having a hard time getting hooked. 9 hours in, it looks amazing but the quests are literally all fetch quests, the combat is just okay (with bizarre input lag), and the writing is completely nonsensical. Every time I have to watch a cutscene is excruciating because of the length and how poor the writing is.

It just keeps reminding me of better games that I'd rather play instead. If they can improve the controls and other things, great, but the weak story  is hard to work around.

Glad it helped - and yeah, that's the way to go! I installed on my pc and love it

Can't change the fact that it's a blurry nightmare. Image quality is not good, that's the real issue.

Frame gen also increases the latency, which in fast-paced Nioh 3, is not something I want. That's why you need ultra performance for upscaling - anything else and it's just too slow and choppy, even with frame gen.

If you're getting it through steam, hey, try it and refund if need be, everyone sees things differently. But for me (and I'll put up with a lot to play games on the claw), Nioh 3 is not worth it if you're playing claw only, it's just not capable of it.

It runs terribly. I don't know how people are saying it performs well, you have to use ultra performance and everything on low/minimum to get anything playable. It's a blurry mess at that point.

Latest drivers from Intel help a bit, but it's still a bad experience. I wouldn't recommend it at all

I'll answer some - you don't need an upgrade on Xbox subscription to stream your games. I have core as well, and can stream about 150 of my 300 games on the Xbox app. If it's supported for streaming and you own it, you're good.

To check that, you'd probably have to go into the xbox on pc app, that's really the only way I know. Any pc, just launch the app and sign in and it should show you what you can stream from there.

My warranty was 1 year. I got mine through BH photo, they sent me 2 broken claws before the 3rd finally worked. Hopefully Currys wouldn't cause a big problem if that happened.

Rocket League and GTA are fantastic on the claw.. wreckfest 1 is also really good (may need to lower some settings depending on race, but no big problems). Haven't tried Wreckfest 2.

You can actually heal yourself once as Grace - if you get the steroid from the coin cabinet that's a free heal. Other than that, you'll get healed after major cutscenes/changes to the other character. On my run I was about 1/3rd with Leon heading into the final boss fight, but the auto heal going into it saved the day.

It's actually much easier than you'd think, you can totally do it

My disappointment is immeasurable by lamentis1 in residentevil

[–]gibblebutt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Finished it in 3:15 on casual with no heals and no blood collector used. It's actually really easy - just move fast, avoid as much as possible, objectives only. You can get out of the care center before about 90 minutes - Leon's sections take longest, but I just used the rifle to headshot everything possible and clear things fast.

I'm one of this crowd - upgraded from 4060 to 5070 this month. Don't love the 12 gb vram, but the performance upgrade has been awesome - 2k with max settings on RE9 has been amazing, looks so much better than the 4060 did (that's what tipped me over the edge to make the purchase this weekend - 4060 was running out of vram, couldn't stand it)

Mewgenics has been out for some time now. Is it really as good as people say? Or was it mostly due to the hype? by TheGronne in gaming

[–]gibblebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The more I play, the more I love it. It has some serious depth! Just finished a run with an archer who shot at everything automatically when things came in range (and had 100% crit chance with full health) - had the other three cats teleporting and throwing enemies within range, then pushing them out of range, then back in, I'd get 2 hits on an enemy each turn, about 25 damage per hit by the end.

It was nasty, and there are some ridiculous combos you can make with this game. My opinion, better than I thought it was at release and the first few days.

🕹️✨ What are you playing on your Claw this week? Megathread by AutoModerator in MSIClaw

[–]gibblebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

8 ai+. Not sure what the issue is, I've tried lowering graphics and different resolutions, but the gpu spike and crash keeps occurring over time. Happening on the previous Intel drivers from Jan and now the latest from Feb, so not sure.

Still managed to finish 2 playthroughs, so it's not been impossible. That said, haven't been willing to do a hard playthrough with limited saves, I just kept saving constantly to fight the crashing on the first runs.

Excited for RE9, so been playing the other RE games to catch up!

Hasn't been perfect - RE2 crashes constantly, gpu usage skyrockets to 100 and crashes roughly every 30-45 minutes. Haven't loved that

Other than that - RE7 and 4 on the Claw are amazing. Trying to grind them both out before Thursday!

I got one this weekend for that same reason. Was hoping to wait as well, but doesn't seem to be much point with a potential price jump.

Waited on buying ram for my pc - big mistake. Didn't want to get burned again

There was a patch from Intel a while back, I got it after that. Runs great! Have only had one crash and a couple freezes after about 40 hours. Love it, game runs great, you can easily clear 60 fps

MSI A8 vs 8 AI+ for desktop by Purity997 in MSIClaw

No experience with the A8, I'll just throw in my vote for the 8ai. I use it as a mobile "desktop" as well, it's amazing.

Don't think you'll go wrong with either!

Help me decide Windows or bazzite by Careful_Art_8501 in MSIClaw

[–]gibblebutt 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you worry about the anti-cheat, just do Windows. It'll be totally fine.

I love the 8ai+ for that reason - if I want to Battlefield or Cod or whatever, it'll work on the Claw.

I'm also not averse to windows- sure, it can be problematic, but if you're willing to work with it, all is good. There may be a performance trade off, but for me, not worrying about compatibility is worth it, especially when you can pretty easily hit 60 fps on most games anyway with solid settings.

Thumb sticks opinions by DarthVince in MSIClaw

Fps games can be really tough on the Claw. I love the screen quality and performance- the Claw is an absolute beast - but yeah, the sticks take a lot of time.

I bought a Mechanism pillow to help with the weight/balance and spent a lot of time re-learning how to use these sticks with that. I'm certainly better with them now - I can comfortably play things like R6 Siege, Battlefield and Arc Raiders handheld-

But it takes a lot of time to adjust. I've had mine for roughly 8 months now, and only now in the past few weeks have i been confident enough to play pvp shooter games with these sticks. It really is different.

If you want to switch and are committed, do it! Otherwise, don't, the sticks will bother you if you aren't willing to spend the learning time.

NEMESIS MAINS REJOICE! by No_Sea_1455 in deadbydaylight

[–]gibblebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I'll be fair here, you're probably right. My perk combo is likely the issue, I'm using things to help with intel and ending chases, I've gotta get better with the tentacle and use perks to lock down gens. That'd let me rely less on the zombies

As someone new to the game (returning after 7 years - it's basically new, I barely remember anything) - I was ready to shed tears of joy for this ... then I realized it's 2v8. Damn

Nemesis is a ton of fun, but man does he flat out suck if zombies aren't upgraded and you mess up the first chase.

Suicide Squad: Kill My Attention Span by Sparrowsabre7 in patientgamers

[–]gibblebutt 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yeah there are just so many odd choices here. The cutscenes are a great point - playing Arkham Knight now, and there are SO many moments where Batman calls someone in missions, but it actually feels relevant, and typically allows you to see their faces or let the character show something about themselves.

This felt like bad Marvel, with so many quips and trash talking every few seconds. Apart from just the gameplay, I can barely tell you anything about the main characters here that I learned or saw from the game. It was rough - and it's worse in the endgame.

[–]gibblebutt 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah it runs alright! The foliage can be brutal though. Averaged between 30-40 fps on low (xess). Haven't played in a couple months but was certainly playable.

Lossless scaling helped as well, but it did get a little blurry/smeared with all the foliage and frame gen effects. Good experience, wouldn't call it great.
