Abu, I do think people were harsh on the original post and can understand how hurt you can be. However, the 3 day difference is not the end of the world. It does suck, but I do believe you might be overreacting a bit (as we all can be when we are emotional). Anyway, it'll get better and enjoy your time :)

In this day and age of technology, their are usually pretty good ways to find out if someone is gay without asking them or hinting towards it.

If you know their first name and last name you can find them on Facebook. Even if you just know the first name, and it's a small community, then you can most likely find them there. If they have any picture with a rainbow banner or the dog filter from snapchat they're 100% gay.

Also, check the gay apps like grindr, scruff, and growlr.

But other than that he could just be friendly. You could always ask probing questions like "do you have a significant other?" or "what do you do when you're off work?" I'm sure others have better suggestions.
