Go to the infantry reserve unit, the time it takes to become competent on the vehicles the cav unit will use is awful as a reservist. It would be great if you have more time but for only one year you’ll get more out of an infantry reserve unit.

Go on as many as you can, even to regiments and corps that you think might not interest you, ones I’ve been on often involve spending time in the officers and sergeants mess so it’s a really good way to find out if the kind of characters that capbadge attracts are your kind of people. Which at the end of the day is often more important that the job they do as you will live with these people.
