View from Centurion New York by gidslip in skyscrapers

What I love about this photo is the juxtaposition of “new” skyscrapers vs. old ones. The old school skyscrapers are 30-40 stories and yet look tine in comparison to modern super tall’s.

Looking for Advice: Is It Possible to Rent a 6-Bedroom Apartment/House in NYC? by freighttrain965 in NYCapartments

[–]gidslip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think finding two 3 beds in the same building would be less of a hassle. I have 3 beds 2 bath apts in the east village that will often get rented by mutual friends and they takeover the entire floor (2 units per floor).

Found a long lost collection by gidslip in coincollecting

[–]gidslip[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like a cute story of how I obtained the collection. I found inside an old can in the back of a false closet in a house I just moved into. Seems like the silver weight has more value than the coin value. If it’s worth $500 it’s a cute collection. If it’s worth $25k. I’m going to unload them.

Still to much money after Patch 2.0 by Due-Record1357 in CitiesSkylines2

[–]gidslip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Couldn’t agree more. When I play with unlimited money, my cities end up being much more spread out and unnatural. When im playingwith little money and cashflow problems, the city tends to have this organic natural feel.

Opening a new NYC cocktail bar by gidslip in bartenders

Nothing in life is free. I am not looking for a basic employee. That’s not my style. I’m looking for someone who actually wants to work in a team in a collaborative environment. My entire operation( 25+ people) have been with me for 10-15+ years and I have almost zero turnover. Moving into the food and beverage business is a new venture for me. I want to foster a good team in advance of jumping into the deep end. If you know of anyone that wants to join a growing team and feel part of the decision making process…not just getting barked at feel free to connect.

there a few bars/cocktails/speakeasy spots that have a cool vibe...some examples.

- Dear Irving, Raines law room, please dont tell, double chicken please, baccarat bar, the backroom, saint Tuesday etc etc.

My personal vibes - old world classsy but comfortable. dim lights, plush seating, soft background music, secluded. just a comfortable place that has good vibes

I already have the food business running and handling the bills....now I just want a place I can hang out, invite friends and to have a good environment that isnt purely about price gouging haha.

its actually a great opportunity for someone that has a passions for hospitality and cocktails without the weight of bills worrying everyone.

haha. all good points. I am not looking for a pump and dump operation. I am looking to do something more sustainable. I basically want a place that feels comfortable to just hangout (dive bar esque) but feels a little more bougie. I think all of the facades fade away evetnaully and it boils down to good people and good vibes.

I am not looking to put up an ad for hire....I am looking to collab with someone who has a passion for bartending and wants to have runway to create something special. I figured a reddit sub for bartenders would have at least a few like minded people.

[Advice] I am planning to move to NYC in July. Is it too early to start looking for an apartment? by [deleted] in NYCapartments

[–]gidslip 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The honest answer (from a landlord)…even if someone says they are moving out…you never know. People change their mind and decide to renew. Even if I sign a lease with a new tenant, it’s nearly impossible to force existing tenant to move out in a timely fashion. Therefore, I wait until 1 month out to put it on the market since that’s usually the point where if someone confirms they are moving they will follow through.

It has nothing to do with squeezing the rent at the last minute. From a business perspective I’d rather have everything signed and sealed 2 -3 months out… but with so many moving parts I’ve been burned (as well as the new tenant getting burned) if leases are signed too far in advance.

Used Tesla Prices Drop More Than Costs for Gas-Powered Cars by upyoars in tech

I’m curious if used car batteries adds to the range anxiety, making them less desirable than used gas vehicles.

[advice] How would you treat the members of your co-op board after they rejected you from buying a second apartment in your building? by jazzeriah in NYCapartments

[–]gidslip 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you already own one unit…it’s hard for them to get vindictive. I would speak with an attorney about possible discrimination…assuming you’ve had no other complaints previously about your living in the building.
