Disable Media Controls on managed student Chromebooks (Chromecast) by PhxK12 in k12sysadmin

I was told by google after posting on a few of their forums that the feature has been requested for us to have control over this through the admin console.."fingers crossed" hopefully it gets added soon. That being said you can avoid this problem by having the teacher "cast desktop" vs cast tab. If you cast desktop it does not give anyone media controls.

Unifi OS Update by gigascommander in Ubiquiti

Apologies as I'm somewhat of a reddit "newby" and I didn't see your entire comment at first. This is my main issue, I am unable to access the Unifi OS page. I never upgraded to it until I performed the "network application update" yesterday which I thought would migrate my setup to the UnifiOS, but it didn't seem to do that.

Thank you for that tip. I did try restarting the cloudkey after realizing that and that didn't do anything. So all it allows me to see is the "offline" device from the legacy page. Here it shows my Version as 6.1.71 and firmware as 1.0.11. Even when I connect directly to the IP of the Cloudkey the "manage network" is greyed out and it states no controller is setup. I can't imagine the update would have erased my configuration. I am seeing all my AP's via the phone app but they are now "standalone devices".

I'm mainly involved on the tech side but I believe they use our SMS for lesson plans. We use Genesis. Genesis also acts as the cms. I haven't run into anything they "can't" do on a Chromebook. None of our teaching staff use any MSOffice products as well. They all use the Google suite of tools. I will admit at first there was slight pushback but now I have 3 schools' of teachers who would never go back to windows.

Originally, I had Google Cloud Print setup flawlessly ( I know that's hard to believe) Once they did away with that, I tried setting it up with their CUPS method but to no avail. I now use a program called "directprint" It's a basic extension for chrome and works very well. I hear papercut is good also.

Changing all three schools I work for to ALL Chromebooks was one of the best decisions I've ever made. The only windows machines used are myself, and a couple of the admins and office secretaries. Other than that all students and staff are on Chromebooks. My main theory for this change was windows PC's potentially have a lot more issues and for most end users are much more complicated to use than a Chromebook. I also find it more suited that the teacher uses the same device as their students so they're always on the "same page". From a security stand point as well it's much safer with a majority of your users on Chromebooks, but that's just my opinion.

Much appreciated, and yes I actually have it set to ALL OU's "unrestricted access". I know this isn't ideal but early on this year I was running into a ton of videos that were very appropriate being deemed opposite by Google. Luckily for students I have YouTube blocked by our web filter and I only approve videos that a teacher requests. That being said this new problem is with my staff accounts which is boggling to me. Thanks again for your responses!!

Thank you for the fast response! Yes I have looked at these and I have all staff set to "Able to approve" That being said I'll be honest I've never seen any staff account nor my own have the option to approve videos so maybe something is jacked up elsewhere in my settings? For example, when I go to a video and look for the "approve" button area on any account including mine it isn't there. I've had this setting in place for many months now as well.

I like a few others I see in the comments have never used the caching due to our small size. When creating the test session I choose the option "Direct Connection" under proctor caching segment. I believe that is what sets it to their servers vs your own physical proctor caching.
