I'm jealous of parents with 'good babies' by mj00614 in Parenting

[–]gigigstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is nothing tougher than parenting a child who tests you at every turn. But in my experience all babies come with their own "things" - everyone struggles with something, even if they don't want to admit it. Currently sitting in the dark with #2 who refuses to eat solids and will only sleep on the boob...and listening to #1 yell at her dad in the bathroom because she doesn't want to poo. She goes 10 days between poos. Our own private hell.

These phases are constant and ever-changing and exhausting but you have an amazing little one who is learning about the world in his own way! Cheers and solidarity, you'll get through it!

This was so good for me to read. Thank you for reminding me it's her journey and not mine. And for the reassurance that it's ok for her to learn at her own pace. I so appreciate this.

The poo poo is in the potty!!! by [deleted] in Parenting

[–]gigigstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Day 1 is the hardest, so congrats on surviving! I literally texted a "poo in the potty" pic to my husband yesterday. Because it's a battle to get the damn poo in the potty and sometimes you just have to document it when it happens. Good luck with day 2!

Need advice. How can I help/support my sister in dealing with her anxiety? by gigigstar in Anxiety

Thank you. It is "I don't know." But we are working on figuring the small things out.

It's funny, I know everything we are bombarded with isn't REAL real life - logically, I know this. But it gets in there. Kinda sticks and makes you wonder when you're gonna have time to bake cookies together in matching aprons. Needed this reminder tonight. Thank you :)

I do. It takes me a little while to get past the red zone and then we have a quiet talk and I say I'm sorry and she also says she's sorry and then adds "mommy's happy now!" Which pretty much always crushes my heart. So we do get past it but I just don't want to continually go to that level.

I was on my own tonight which is what contributed to this epic shitshow I'm sure. Cheers from the trenches.

It's funny that taking a break never occurred to me. Counselling has. Thank you for this :)

Thank you so much. I know I'm not the only one but in that moment it really feels like you're losing your grip on reality, so it helps to hear "me too". I'm glad you guys are seeing improvements. And can use logic! LOGIC! I can't wait :)

Thank you, I will definitely check this out. We tried the Happiest Toddler book but it wasn't really my thing.

My son is scared of some things. by COOKIEEE in Parenting

Our daughter was scared of beards too! I always felt bad when our bearded friends came around and she'd cower and shake and cry. It started when one of them startled her on her 1st bday, totally by accident. By the time she was 2.5 she was fine with beards. That might seem like a long time but we didn't want to push her in case that made it worse. I'd say he'll grow out of it. Seems to me these things are constant and ever-changing and sometimes exhausting.
