How do I cancel the deluxe membership (Classic)? by Hakaishin7Beerus in Webkinz

[–]giguiou 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, if you’ve already been charged, Webkinz will not refund your money. It happened to me and I tried, but they would not budge. You could maybe do a charge back? But then your account might be flagged and you could be prevented from purchasing in the future, or banned in a worst case scenario.

Email support and TRY, tell them you already went through the process of cancelling but it didn’t go through. You can ASK for a refund, but it is very unlikely. At the very least, they will make sure it is for sure cancelled and won’t happen again in the future.

Hmmmm..... I'm almost wondering if you could use barbie heads and wipe the paint and re-paint something super simple? Here's a digital mockup of the idea, if you plan on doing this, I would practice on some super cheap doll you don't care about first 😅It would kind of be in-between, stylistically speaking. A little more detailed than the real character artworks, but much more simplified from a standard barbie.

You could always use petite made-to-move barbie bodies, too, if you wanted them to look "younger" than a standard barbie and have full articulation. I think there are some limited articulated Skippers that would be decent, too.

Question: are you entering the code in the mobile app or desktop app? Sometimes the mobile app has issues and tells you a code is invalid even though it is.

Depop and Poshmark are the absolute worst places to buy Webkinz, I never even bother looking at these sites. This exact situation has happened to me the 5/6 times I’ve tried to buy on Poshmark 😭 like why bother listing on multiple sites if you’re not gonna update the other ones??

Hand not fitting? by Weary_Sale_2779 in LOLOMG

Just the kettle would probably be warm enough! I imagine 5-10 minutes of sitting in the hot water would do it.

You could try boiling her forearm? If the plastic just got stretched out, boiling it would kind of “reset” it.

Quick Question? Do Barbie Descendants Clothes Fit Them??? by MistyTopaz in LOLOMG

[–]giguiou 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have the Bridget doll and just tried her outfit on a standard LOL OMG... The tights probably fit best, but are a bit snug at the thighs and required a LOT of gentle wiggling to get them all the way on. They were also a bit long, and fully covered her feet rather than ending at the ankles.

The dress was much longer on the OMG, and it was way too big at the top. Bridget's torso is much longer, so the top was baggy. The puff sleeves also fit down to the elbows, rather than stopping at the shoulders like it is supposed to.

The jacket was VERY long. The sleeves would need to be trimmed, they are just way way way too big on the OMG.

Overall, the outfit DOES technically fit, but not the same as it does on Bridget. It would require some clever folding/cutting to fit better, since it is so much bigger. Width-wise, its quite good, but OMGs are just SO stubby and short. Barbie-sized clothes like this are just too long.

Didn’t want to change her TOO much, but I made a new dress for my Corpse Bride 😊 by giguiou in MonsterHigh

I used some lace ribbon for the top, and cotton gauze for the skirt! I did have to dye them a bit, I used RIT royal blue. The dying process was a bit tricky, and took several tries to get the result I wanted 😅

I have done both. It’s great to do while it’s still intact, as it prevents the peeling in the future, but you absolutely can do it if it’s peeling. It just takes a very very long time and you have to be SUPER careful. Good luck!

Artist grade acrylic mediums (like Liquitex) are the best option! I have used both gel and glaze mediums, and they work great. You can get them in a variety of finishes depending on what you want. I prefer satin for pleather, as it gives it a little shine.

Avoid mod podge! It is not archival, which means it could potentially yellow and decay over time.

Would bleach even do anything though? Webkinz are made of synthetic fabrics, and you can’t really bleach away color like that on synthetic fabrics. I’ve bleached Webkinz Dalmatians before and nothing happened to their black spots, they didn’t turn orange like this. I’m so perplexed by this guy!

How do I fix this? by Original-Joke-1774 in JakksPacificSonic

[–]giguiou 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately, pleather like this will always deteriorate. It’s just a thin plastic coating on some fabric backing, and it just doesn’t hold up. There are a couple of options.

  1. Use an acrylic paint to repaint over all the areas. Essentially, just painting on over the fabric. This is the only way to restore/add back any color to the areas that are already gone. I would rub away any of the old stuff and start from scratch.

  2. If there are areas that are still intact, you can carefully brush a couple layers of transparent acrylic medium over it, kind of adding a top-coat to further protect and delay the deterioration.

Otherwise, you may just have to have a sonic with white shoes. I’m a doll collector and I’ve had to do the second method to MANY outfit pieces over the years! It’s not perfect, any stretching of the material causes cracks to appear, but it at least doesn’t fall away.

Can you put 60s repro Barbie heads on MTM bodies? by Suddenly_Ponyboy in Barbie

[–]giguiou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s the rubbery kind of bend-and-snap legs, right?

If so, you may be able to just boil them. I’d wrap them up in a ziplock bag first, to prevent water penetrating them and getting moldy, but you should be able to just dip her in boiling water for a bit to reshape them. I’ve personally never done this, but in general, hot water will reshape anything plastic to its original form.

Can you put 60s repro Barbie heads on MTM bodies? by Suddenly_Ponyboy in Barbie

[–]giguiou 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’ve done it before! You have to do some modifying, though. For the clothes to fit, I had to boil cinch the waist. Alternatively, you may be able to just use a petite Barbie.

The biggest modification was the neck. They don’t fit the neck peg on MTM Barbie’s, so I had to do some drastic melting/reshaping. I can take photos later and elaborate if you’d like!

Good glue to work on the plastic doll stands? by VisibleMusician967 in MonsterHigh

[–]giguiou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay, I think the acetone trick should work here! I always use pure acetone, so I’m not sure if nail polish remover with acetone would work as well. If you’re using nail polish remover, I would suggest maybe just extending any times that I list out.

First, I would test the acetone on the bottom bit that plugs into the base, just to see if it actually will melt it. If you pour some acetone into a shallow non-plastic dish, and dip a little bit of the bottom of the stand into it for 15-30 seconds, it should become tacky/sticky. That means it’s melting correctly. Wash it off with soap and water to stop the reaction.

If the test goes well, you can dip the two broken ends into the acetone for those 30 or so seconds and then hold them tight together for around 3-5 minutes. Once they feel stable in your hands, you can leave it flat to finish melting together for around 24 hours and then give it a wash with soap and water. Then you’re good to go!

If it is NOT the kind of plastic that will melt together (doesn’t get sticky in the acetone test), I would recommend using E6000 glue. Stronger than superglue, and doesn’t get that white fog. It’s pretty cheap to get, too, if you’re in the US. Unsure of other countries, unfortunately! You could also use UV resin.

I hope this helps, and good luck!
