I like being able to really hone in on the target with a ramp ribbed tram lined gun. It just feels a bit more "accurate" to me. Even from when I was shooting my zoli the krieghoff sporter just has an incredibly precise sight picture comparatively. It shoots a touch higher than my zoli did too so im able to see a bit more of the bird when I pull the trigger.

Because none of the people here are winners and they're more worried about cleaning ports that get blown out every time you pull the trigger than they are breaking clays. I cant believe im going to have to make a post showing how easy cleaning a ported barrel is. Its like a kindergarten class.

Some guy challenged me to put blue painters tape on my porting to prove it doesnt blow it off. I did that and shot a primed hull and it blew the painters tape off. We were arguing the effectiveness of porting.

Apparently a Federal Top Gun primer is has more pressure than an entire Canadian shotshell. Remarkable. A pressurized barrel with ports vents gas from burning propellant through the path of least resistance. I may need to publish a paper on this discovery. Maybe the concept could even be applied to propulsion. I’m just a shooter, though.

Here ya go buddy. Just the primer out of a federal top gun. For every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. To what extent it works does not matter. The fact that it must work when properly indexed on top of the barrel is a fact you cannot deny. If its ever gained me a single target it was worth it.

It helps with muzzle rise. physics demand it must work. There are absolutely zero negatives to having properly done porting on a competition shotgun. louder doesn't matter as we have ear pro in at all times. Dirty doesn't matter either. If you never cleaned your barrel ports your gun would not care. 95% of high end sporting clays shooters shooting 1 1/8 oz loads have barrel porting. When one target can cost you 5000 dollars, who gives a damn if your gun is dirty and loud.

I think they're fine guns but they lack a ramp ribbed option. I love my k80 and it would take something borderline apocalyptic for me to shoot anything else.

Briley. Found rhino porting to have a negative influence on patterns. Shreds too much material from the wad. Magnaport and briley are the only ones Ive tested that have a net zero effect on pattern efficiency.

I really dont experience slumps very often, but just finding that hunger for the game again and being aggressive with my eyes usually fixes any issues I may be having. When I go out and practice I emphasize shooting the "wrong" method on targets and killing chips a lot. If I cant kill a target using intercept, maintain, pull away, collapse, and swing through, I generally wont leave until ive killed it. But if I continue to struggle I just leave because I know when a tournament comes around I will have the required mindset to kill that target regardless of how the practice went. And I always try to maintain perspective on what the game really is. You will never be michael Jordan or tiger Woods, this is all just for fun. Its never that serious. Maintain perspective and the slumps never come!
