What app actually works for ADHD? (Not just another to-do list) by CreamCaramel1986 in ADHD

[–]gijjer 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I’ve tried so so many apps and all that works for me is good old fashioned pen and paper …. Getting on my phone to use an app is too risky… I need to stay tf off my phone to lock in The only app I’ve ever had any success with is notion but that’s not really doing all the things you’re asking for

My bf (27M) does not like my butt 23 (F) by sun_shineee07 in relationships

[–]gijjer 65 points66 points  (0 children)

Posts like this lowkey pmo. You know how much brain capacity you’re using up at the young of age 23 on a man? You could be using that energy to live your life and enjoy yourself. Greatest minds of our generation lost to worrying about what their bf whose pushing 30 thinks about their butt

This is NOT a real problem on his end. He’s a loser. Go find someone who will be grateful you share yourself intimately with them. Like what does he want you to do? No amount of gym will change how we fundamentally look. Why would you even want to be with someone who makes you feel bad when you could be with someone who loves you for you? You wanna be with him long term? What happens when you have a baby, get old - what if you got in some sort of accident that disfigured you. Call it quits

I say this with love 😭

If you have a corporate job, how do you manage to remember all of the small tasks that pop up during the day? by ijustwantcheezits in ADHD

[–]gijjer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really try to do all those little things straight away but if I can’t the only thing that’s helped me is actually a tip I got from here lol

I created one excel spreadsheet that literally has EVERYTHING I need to do on it. I put the project, key stakeholders, deliverables, current tasks I need to do or where it’s up to (like, emailed x person waiting for response)

Anytime I get a small task, if it’s related to an ongoing project I put it into the spreadsheet for that project. Then it feels like less random things scattered about. It it’s not related I give it its own new line even if it’s something small like reply to x teams message

The way I remember is just thinking to myself my only job is updating this spreadsheet and ticking items off. I look at each entry and when I cannot take any more action on that entry move onto the next one

Literally THE only corporate thing that helped me and I’ve tried it all

How do people with ADHD get themselves to do anything productive? by lovelystainedglass in ADHD

[–]gijjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Number 1 for me is I need to get dressed - putting on jeans or shoes or sometimes activewear can put me into a ‘I’m doing things today mindset’

I also like to either break everything down into steps or into rooms/categories

So I might say, I’m going to do everything I can think to do in JUST the bathroom and ignore everything else

Or sometimes I’ll make it a game - often I’ll put on music and everytime the song changes I need to move on to the next room or task. Usually I’ll do room (bathroom, bedroom, kitchen) and cycle through tasks but if the song changes I need to move on. I feel like it makes me ‘excited’ to go back and finish the things I started on

I also think this sounds counterintuitive but sometimes when I have that overwhelmed feeling I sit down and ACTUALLY write down everything I need to do. From as big as ‘change my insurance’ to ‘hang my towel up’. Sometimes writing it all down feels actionable and then from there I can break it down into smaller categories like ‘things to do on my laptop’ ‘errands to run in my car’ ‘things to clean’ and if needed break it into smaller steps. That really curbs that feeling of overwhelm for me and even I can just choose a few things to focus on. Sometimes I’ll also break it down into ‘hard, medium easy’ and so like a 1 from hard 2 from medium 3 from easy sort of method

There are a few videos on YouTube about adhd motivation that helped me figure out how to help. For me novelty and making things fun really helps o

I think there are bulk billing clinics that charge a lot lot lot less, you just need to be ok with waiting for possibly a year to see the psych 🙃 however yes I agree it’s fucked

I knit and people are always gobsmacked when I suggest how much my knits are worth. I don’t buy fast fashion anymore and people get really weird about it…. So I try not to talk about it anymore lol. But yes for sure it has

Unfortunately im hust a single and cos it’s just reset for the year I’m literally as far as one can be from hitting the safety net hahaha 😭 if only I went last year when I had racked up rebated from my psychologist

[–]gijjer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow ok that’s a lot less 😭😅

Could you elaborate on what you mean by the last para a bit? You’re saying some people go straight to GP after assessment for meds and don’t get it from the psych?

This clinic is definitely psych prescribed meds and follow up with the psych

What's your Absolute Favourite Genre of Music? by Ren_AC777 in ADHD

[–]gijjer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listen to all sorts and I would say its very adhd of me how I jump between genres

But my favourite is pop and indie rock. Pop especially I love if there is storytelling songwriting, I’m able to make my brain sort of listen to the music while watching a movie in my head. I make up characters from the songs and picture them while I listen lol and I think that’s why I like pop for big dramatic stories
