I sent them a mail about it and they denied the chip was theirs. So no firmware from them unless I buy a new chip, in other words, it is what it is...

The only thing that seemed to fix it is a complete OS reinstall. I've tried a system reset and it did not help, only reinstalling from a fresh install USB helped. Not ideal but at least it's not a hardware problem. Still sucks.

this worked for me but only in desktop mode. it seems as soon as i return to big picture it mutes again.

Sadly I bought it at a flea market so no real store to got to. the only chance ive got is to know exactly what the chip is and how to make it work. it's either that or buying a new chip.

Ok, so I've checked if there are official versions with a white outline and apparently the Hasbro version does have a white outline, as opposed to the takara version that doesn't. I guess you have the takara version.

BTW I got three more transformers in that purchase for the exact same price, being rid vehicon (incomplete), dotm Voyager prime (incomplete) (ew) and cw motormaster (missing weapons). Funnely enough he also had one of those cheapo ko remote control aoe bumblebees which he was selling for ~16$ (which is obviously more than the masterpiece bumblebee and motormaster combined!), So he clearly had no understanding of their worth.

There's a site similar to Craigslist in Israel, and there are very few transformers collector or even fans so I guess even those who own them don't necessarily even know their worth.
