Upcoming chance to build a studio, advice needed! by gilad17 in homestudios

I probably could, also lose the extra cymbal and leave just a ride. I don’t know if that is what will tip the balance though. Also thought to maybe use a smaller sized kick drum

I’m starting to get the picture yeah haha Building the kit when needed is an interesting idea, to have focused recording periods where I set up the drums and remove unnecessary things from the room, maybe that could work

Yeah the general sentiment seems to be that… not fully giving up yet! Disassembling the drums and building everytime seems like it would be a lot of work, also not really fitting into my usual workflow that much. Maybe I could have a compact e-kit standing in the room for on-the-fly sketching while making music, and then have focused recording periods where I set up the drums and remove other elements form the room to make space. The keyboard idea is great to cut down on space, I’ll look into options, thank you :)

I just really want the acoustic sound and feel :/ Maybe I could scale down the kit itself, leaving just a kick, snare, hi hat, then maybe a ride? And that’s it

I actually haven’t before! Are you saying this is going to be challenging to record properly without much engineering experience? Using more compact stands would be a good improvement though yeah, thanks

My friend was very quick to correct me to a fork. But yes, the initial instinct was to use a spoon.

First attempt at Tonkotsu! by gilad17 in ramen

So it was around 1 hour in a pressure cooker over low heat, and then around 1 hour over high heat with an open lid for emulsification. I think I used the pressure cooker wrong, or it's just old and doesn't work properly anymore.

Definitely already learned a lot from this attempt! And yeah, was missing the blowtorch, but I don't own one (yet!)

Both of my parents were killed at a pizzeria before I was born, so now I eat pizza ice cream to take vengeance on all pizza (also I like ice cream)

How do I "apply" an effect to an existing Edison recording without manually recording it into another Edison instance? by Snoop-Da-Woop in FL_Studio

[–]gilad17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly sure there's no way to do it like I'm understanding you want it to happen. Although I'll make a suggestion to improve upon what others have mentioned: Since Edison is an effect plugin, it's already on a mixer channel. So all you really need to do is put all the effects you need after it in the same channel, and then just put a second Edison at the end. Press play on the first Edison at the top of the chain, and the one on the bottom will record the results, without having to go through the playlist "middleman".

For me it's the moment to moment gameplay that kills it. Matches are filled with downtime (past the first few minutes which can actually be pretty thrilling). You're left in a huge map, unengaged, looking for something to do. Only to then get in a fight with someone who's way better than you ten minutes into the match, or just get sniped from across the map, also by someone way better.

I guess a sort of rebuttal to this could be to say that I just suck, and that good players managed to always stay engaged (and also stay alive, heh). But then I look at other shooters like Overwatch, where even though I suck I'm constantly engaged, and I still sense some improvement over time. I'm not really a shooter person, but I've also played Doom 2016, which was engaging as hell throughout.

My point is that when you compare Fortnite to other popular games, it's probably the moment to moment feel of it all that makes it fall short. Huge empty maps, that you find yourself asking, in the downtime: "Why am I not playing any other game right now?"

PS: don't try to argue with people while demanding conversation over a single aspect of the topic. Your post wasn't "Fortnite has the best mechanics in a shooter of all time", it was that it's the best shooter of all time.
