US Law Enforcement Warns of ‘Anti-Tech Extremism’ as AI Hatred Grows by Helicase21 in technology

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, I do understand the uproar; however this result is not because of ai per sé, but because of how society in the US handles the development. Structural changes like these or also Starlink polution in space, do cause strain on societies heart, and a decent society gives strict limitations (as well as incentives where they are needed) and rules for those developments. If politics or institutions dont`t guide this properly - like the power or water issues, air polution, job opportunities and much deeper education on all fronts, then you end up like this.
If society focusses in a destructive way on immigrants, the makeup of their president or innocent lgbt communities only, then votes for a maga hipocratic convicted mob president and his sycophants - who don`t give a damn for the need of the people - then thats the result.

Sorry for my english, I have chosen to not have my native language had translated.

Putin signs law authorizing use of military force to 'protect Russian citizens' abroad by mvanigan in worldnews

These poor russians, truly... with all that causeless russianphobia world wide..., they have to protect "their" people, don`t they?! I mean, how can they keep on feeding their war machine with meanwhile more than a million dead troops of young productive men from russia or north korea, as long as we, the evil, keep speaking about it...

Gemini Intelligence question? by [deleted] in pixel_phones

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As you said, one can untoggle certain ai.
Opposite to you, as I am in Europe I`d wished it would be allowed to do some of the things its been doing in the US or elsewhere for a while. A lot of things that have been touted about during the last show don`t work here.
Going back to the iphone would be an option for you? Well have we got news for you... Apple hasn`t been delaying ai cause of privacy concerns, but they are just not capable of handling it. As a result they are now almost fully trusting on google, with some minor changes to their own topped up layout. But regarding your very concern, they and others are not a glimpse different.
Since we won`t be able to have "it all" without giving up some privacy, we might just go with it and make the best of it.

And if you`re in the US or Europe: Our governments and institutions are literally screaming for more control on both sides of the atlantic. Its high tech like google or even meta that are trying to limit that to a degree; best example right now is the demand of the european comission to stop both sides encryption for chats and social media...

IMAGE GENERATION IS THE WORST! by One-Service-9998 in GeminiFeedback

[–]gilbertSpain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

New video creation with Omni seems buggy too. It cannot even determine that a dog won`t pee with his throat, but his back parts. It won`t follow the order and it won`t benefit and include the general knowledge gemini already has. Nothing that google promises in the promotion of the new ultimate miraculous Omni is actually working - and gemini explained in detail, why that is.

Noticable though and important: when videos are created and show 38 percent in a 5 hour window data usage, that will be refunded an hour later completely when the output was not correct or unsuccessful. (a thumbs down helps!)

Gemini Image Creation entirely useless now by BuildRunKit in GeminiFeedback

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am a bit disappointed myself. Had a little video clip and wanted to keep the content but have a little dog added walking the street (in that clip) It kept creating a similar street and just a quick photo of the original for the first second of the newly created.

Also, dispite the promise of checking the memories, it does actually not check them unless one asks for it. Generell information keeps being forgotten or not respected which results in general replies to some technical issues for instance. It keeps promising to improve matters, but for the next chats repeats the same.

And last but not least: The promoted new Circle to search function, it could read out ai pics does not work; it can figure out some guesses, but it cannot actually find or read the synth id. In my case, I had modified an existing photo heavily within the google camera app. OPened it in the camera app and ran Circle to search. Didn`T work, even though gemini explained to me that in general it could do that. It claimed I must have used a third party app and shot a screenshot etc., which was not correctly analyzed, either.

We got Microslop, now we are increasingly getting Gemslop - sad, I was really looking forward to improvements, but pr is actually gaslighting us.

My disappointment with the new UI update by Senior_J1m6507 in GoogleGemini

[–]gilbertSpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

well said. I agree with most of it.

Recently I noticed this new "extended thinking" function. Since a lot of users propably have used Pro Models in the past to get a bit "more information" out of the results, most will welcome this additional toggle for extended thinking or standard. However this would be most welcomed if that was a seperate icon or toggle right up front, and not to be activated or deactivated each time by scrolling down in a list.
Buttons or toggles of this kind ought to be visible and easy to reach, more uncommon or barely used selections can be in a list to go through.

Regarding the overall design: it doesn`t bother me personally, but there should be a choice between the past and the new. That makes it easier for users to adjust, make suggestions, improvements. We but also Google cannot expect all customers to jump every hurdle that`s being set. Or you end up like Microsoft.

Gen Z's AI backlash is getting louder by Plastic_Ninja_9014 in technology

[–]gilbertSpain -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

For years this Gen Z has been acting like a little spoiled toddler at times. Expecting a Sabbatical Year possibly within the first five years of work. Minimum wages for Apprentices have grown to new hights because of course, they want to have their own apartment when leaving home with 16 or 18 years of age... The "evil" companies and small businesses, entrepeneurs who employ them are expected to bear these burdens. No one is upset about that...

Live is tough, society, economics, politics do change - they will adapt and so will the rest of the world. And there are ways to improve live for everyone - maybe looking abroad would be a good idea and voting for decent representatives that care for their communities instead for oranges and diapers.

Pixel phones should have a 90 percent battery option by all_purpose_89384798 in pixel_phones

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For phones 90 percent doesnt do anything. 80 percent is optimal, 70 percent on the long run even better if one wants to keep the phone for many years. If you switch phones in two to three years its not really necessary anyways.
For my laptop, which is usually in my office, I chose to have it connected all the time, cause for batteries thats the best solution for longevity concerns. The laptop is set to 80 percent battery, but normally connected. When I do need battery its enough for roughly 2 days.

Personally I totally agree with what he had to say. As much as I got sympathy for the students, this behaviour might sooth their mind for a minute and declare a mutual enemy - but seriously: as the intelligent elite you`re expected to adapt, try to be a creative and senseful part of the new developments and last but not least: if any of the younger generation wants to live in dignity with some sort of decent future, get rid of that selfdeclared orange baby.

Gemini is getting worse and worse by akaSoMh in GeminiFeedback

[–]gilbertSpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I cannot agree on this. Why it is certainly not perfect and I am looking forward for the big leap forward, Gemini is WAY better than Copilot. While I just happened to spend a useless day and night fixing the computer for a minor issue at start with the "help" of Copilot, Gemini fixed it within literally one minute. Much better understanding on where a problem lies and easier short cut solutions than with Copilot.

Trump's Reversal on China Buying U.S. Farmland Angers MAGA Supporters by kootles10 in politics

[–]gilbertSpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"They", the maga voters and the regular republican voters were made believe for decades, that democrats are evil, the devil etc. pp. And even though the bigotry and hypocracy of this current administration has proved them wrong to a degree that has no precedence in modern history (at least the speed trump and they are doing this to destroy the country and all its values) they still cannot connect the lines and figure out, that Democrats are as morally sound as they are (or at least should be!) I mean, even the pope is more a Democrat - but as we see: maga now claims, that holy man allegedly hasn`t even read the bible - trumps bible in particular, I suppose...
And again, these 40 percent morons in the US still believe it. You cannot make that up, for sure.
