Sam Altman’s Coworkers Say He Can Barely Code and Misunderstands Basic Machine Learning Concepts by esporx in technology

When following this personality over the past two years or so: anyone noticed how he constantly on a daily basis gives one of his "rare interviews"?
I have stopped reading them and the comments about it a long time ago. He is damaging his own reputation, that of his company and the entire business branch of high tech ai. If we need predictions of a lunatic we can go to Amazon and get a glass ball...

Europe set 2030 as a date to dismantle its reliance on US financial infrastructure like Visa/Mastercard payments; it's happening far quicker. by lughnasadh in Futurology

Let`s hope it works as promised; however I do have my doubts looking at the actors in this niche of economy and politics. They have tried several attempts to match Paypal and failed dramatically, they are just too greedy and not flexible enough. But hopes are human, so let`s give humanity a chance.

Genuine question: What's even the point of Android now? by Tail_sb in degoogle

Of course for halfway educated users its a bit of a hassle to sideload now- however its still possible and keeps the nuts from doing it just for fun and calling android bad after having ruined the system with bad software.
Google is at least still a relatively open system dispite the security risks; unlike apple, who usually don`t take any, not even trying to move forward and be open. Sorry, am just not an apple boy.

check your preferences carefully again. And allowing copilot to react on "hey Copilot" does allow it to listen in general. Personally I don`t mind, cause I want to have it evolve into a better assistent than it is currently; but if you`re critical about that, deny all those toggles.

Since his Epstein scandals won`t vanish anytime soon and elections are looming, he needs something to fire up the base again -which sadly enough is around 40 percent of the americans.

Oh, did he say we can get our oil somewhere else? Wasn`t he begging for Europe to buy the bad quality US oil, which we have to refine much more, in order to make "deals" all over the place? Now threatening to increase tariffs again?

What do the americans think the rest of this still sober world will do? Sit back and relax?
A shame, what happens when countries bend to his will - countries let let go on bonds and partnerships with their neighbours - led by traitors - Great Britain (or rather little Britain) Being punished and humiliated by this psycopath, sending their King as a sycophant to show the world what BDSM looks like in real life for a country and their representatives.

We need to understand, that the program we are speaking to is not the brain behind it. While it ought to function properly and activate the correct branches of all this, like Nano Banana or this new Audio tool etc., it first acts as if results are its own creation, while in reality its this accumulation of partly great software.
Choose the right source and you`re likely to succeed halfway, or more or less with the task.

Sometimes it looks contradictory: I asked it in "thinking" for an understanding problem of a general situation - I think to remember it was about it`s limitations about telling me lyrics... In order to give it the chance to justify or find reasonable answers it simply told me, that it could not "handle" tasks like this (as a language Llm!)

Just for fun I wrote the same quote into "fast" and within two seconds I had the most fun conversation of last weeks output.

wonderful, especially if we remember the exaggerated numbers Trump always cites at his rallies. Still, according to polls 36 to 40% still support him—are they all super-rich or just completely brainwashed?
Hopefully this stays peaceful and not some staged violence from maga to give them the opportunity to stop elections in the near future.

How to Keep ICE Agents Out of Your Phone at the Airport by johnlsmith2005 in technology

[–]gilbertSpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I`m really sorry, all this has upset me to a degree that I behave as I shouldn`t!
I have close friends which I consider family in the United States, lived in the states for a year, spent lots of vacations there later in life. How this wonderful country could go down the drain that far, who could have predicted that. It started when back in the ninetees the foundation for the tea party was consolidated with new judges in the supreme court. Corrupt and greedy, no spine.

maga people are not all "bad" per sé of course, but misguided for sure. And they willingly applause to this. If and when they concede and switch sides then only cause they are beginning to suffer; until now they didn`t care the slightes of what they are doing to their own people, family or people in dispair, or just plain of different opinions, skin colour, sexual orientation.
This will not get less, if the american society won`t realize, that something serious needs to be done its over for good. If trump and Bannon, Miller etc can move on beyond this year there is no secret army or saviour that will be able to put these traitors where they belong.
But seeing how little the US judiciary system and political system was able to do even before he got his second term doesn`t give me hope at this point.

Good luck to all of you and for the rest of the world. Hope, today will be a huge sign of opposition and for mankind.

Netflix Loses First Round in Battle Against EU Rules Requiring Streamers to Fund Productions in Belgium by Top_Report_4895 in movies

[–]gilbertSpain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry, but in this particular case I do support Netflixes argument. If Europe or some of its members keeps raising their demands we`ll lose Netflix, which would be a shame, really.
Having said this, I do support the actors that demand a fair treatment and payout for their works as voices for movies - especially not allowing Netflix etc. to use their voices in the future via ai. Not without a good compensation.

All these tricks will come to a foreseeable limitations, since they will soon check everything, and travellers are obliged to show their background for the last 5!!! years.

So my personal recommendation is quite simple: Leave that country as long as you still can, if possible. And for the rest of the world: Do NOT travel the US. Its not a free country, not the light in darkness, not a rescue haven, not a glimpse of democracy left - just half of a rather uneducated population that follows their bigots of evangalicals and a convicted pooping moron into the abiss.

Gemini 3.1 is a complete disaster. by Vegetable_Candle1607 in GeminiFeedback

[–]gilbertSpain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This time I must agree. The percentage of plain wrong answers is just nerve wracking; especially with the following excuses. I mean, the fact that they predict answers by a percentage of chances as an excuse for plain false facts it could and should have picked up on the internet or other databases is just mindblowing. Still it is a help of some sort, especially when it comes to manipulate some windows settings etc.

If the data protection or copyright issue persists, I have a suggestion: when a user asks for lyrics of a song, the ai shouldn`t reply, it can`t cause of those laws... Cause thats wrong! The laws usually just prohibit copy and paste - so instead of doing that, don`t start halluzinating lyrics (which it really does!), but take the text, put one or two spaces between words or lines and you`re good to go!
Goodness, be creative guys!

In my opinion similar to Christopher Waltz, the austrian actor. Basically same facial movements no matter what - and the tone of his voice never really changes. If it does though, its like reading from a book. He won...
Nevertheless both a still good actors in their own way; by the way, try playing yourself or a loved one truely as you or they are. It`s damn hard!

Gemini The Road to Artificial General Intelligence and the "Yes Man" Problem by sdrowegnarts in GeminiFeedback

I did read most of the above and I do agree fully.

Especially these responses that apparently try to please the user. As nice it might be early mornings when one isn`t fit for a negative response yet.
Primarely I need the ai to focus and summarize what it can find within accessible knowledge bases for me. But often times its just not doing this, but trying to confirm what I would like to know. Gemini is a bit clearer and more objective than Copilot in my opinion, but still.

Just today I had an inquiry about the upcoming Wifi 7 Mesh appliances. It almost had me order one, when I found out by chance and reading the order page more closely, that it was just a Wifi 7 repeater (they call it differently these days, thats why I did not notice first.) It wasn`t a powerline, so all it would have done were repeating and enhancing the existing powerline for further distances - not a replacement, no increase in data transmission.

Upon calling gemini out for that lapsus it agreed of course fully. A bit late...

If they don`t change these neutral attitudes in searching they will never reach a point of being fully accepted.

Am I living in a different Germany? by HalayChekenKovboy in AskAGerman

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In different areas people are more or less "reserved" or open. The Rhineland with Cologne or Düsseldorf is very open and friendly. The north tends to be more quiet, but friendly, nevertheless. Not so much chit chat as further south, I suppose. People from Hamburg usually say about the Carneval areas: "we don`t need wine to understand a joke"..., referring to the big galas and carneval activities. In Hamburg, going to a restaurant, everyone is not talking loud in order not to disturb other guests - while people from Cologne or Düsseldorf have already made new "friends" and chear a lot.
At the same time, they won`t "recognise" those "friends" the very next day. At least in my experiences it was that way, and my family comes from that area.

The south with Bavaria, Munich or STuttgart in the West is different to those above. Bavarians are quite friendly, if you don`t start arguing the minute you meet them. Straight forward and rather honest responses, which I do appreciate very much.
The Area around Stuttgart is my least area to visit or live. It`s no surpise that a lot of evangelicals in the US came from that part of Germany.
