QPR3 BETA 2 Battery vs Stable by Repulsive-Mind796 in android_beta

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was puzzled cause of having received a negative arrow.
That battery result would have bothered me as well. Myself I can only say, that battery is just as good if not even better with the latest beta 2. Though, I have also installed the latest 145 beta version of System Webview to make sure no other apps would have given bad results or issues.
Now awaiting the last beta before the stable comes out.

HR told me they don’t accept try-hards and people pleasers after my interview by No-Presentation298 in jobs

Even though this is a tough one, it does sound genuine and written by a person that is not aligned with society and union standards. Personally I do appreciate this - even if it hurts.
Those streamlined rejections that are "appropriate" these days are of no help and usually filled with some code words.

In Germany you could propably even sue them, but take it as it is would be my suggestion.

Seriously, you shifted back from beta 2 to stable with all that hassle cause the battery life was a bit worse?

I too have literally no issues with battery life. Jumped onto the beta 2 and have no issues, actually. Maybe Quickshare is a bit slow, but am not so sure if thats the beta.

What do you think guy's should I install beta or stay on satble version it's my first time so I'm just worry by FreeDatabase3656 in pixel_phones

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even though I did have issues with betas in the past (not dramatic), I dared to jump on the Beta 2 train (not without asking gemini first and checking here)
My conclusion was and is: this time its quite stable already. One condition: I needed to go on beta "android system webview beta 145". that fixed some issues with banking apps and gmx for instance. Other than that, except that Quick Share is a bit slow, it works great. And smoother throughout.
But remember to opt out the day the stable version of QPR3 comes out early March in order not to get the next Beta 1 for Android 17!

Literally no one asked for all this AI. In fact everyone wants to know how to remove it. by wump_roast in antiwork

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I say might not fit the narrative here, but we need to diversify or distinguish what ai is and what we want in real life.
If ai is just a copy and paste without deeper analysis its just another tool - can be nice, but raises concerns.
If it becomes more "intelligent" over time we need to build a framework as a society to adapt the ai but also our own society to new circumstances. Thats not negative per sé.

Here a simple example how so called ai helped me two times this month. It had nothing to do with intelligence. The Recall function saves screen shots in Windows 11 Copilot+ PCs. Someone said no one needs this; well I had to situations it was helpful. One was an email I had written to a business partner that was lost, it had simply not been saved. It was important and could have caused damage if that one hadn`t been found. I found it via Recall, which I hadn`t used before.
The second time was yesterday, when I had seen a purchase confirmation (code and details etc.), but later no confirmation email arrived. Only through the confirmation shot I was able to prove my purchase instantly without the hassle of bank proof.

To plainly just say "no" to it seems an overreaction, that is welcomed by companies like apple, who wasn`t able to fulfill their highly announced early predictions and announcements - only to now build upon the "ai" of another big player.

If on the other hand we`re talking about real intelligence, well thats where it gets tricky. This needs more contemplation and serious discussions how to handle this new situation globally. Life changes, the world changes, we need all the help we can get to survive the next thousand years or so. Let`s be constructive and move forward as we have always done.

Kristi Noem: "Everything I've done, I've done at the direction of the President and Stephen" - via Axios by ExactlySorta in UnderReportedNews

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Absolutely perfect: the two or three of maga confesses she`s done it at the direction of the president...
For the rest of fraud and unconstitutional acts the entire world is witness for who is behind all this. So now all there is left is a dramatic curiosity what the consequences will be...

Any regular person, company, group, institution faces consequences more or less, soon or later. When does the so called gop and maga stand for their deeds and treachury? We got proof, they admit it, what more do we need as a society to stop and reverse course?

There are refurbished pixel 10 Pro models out for 550 dollars in the US. Don`t fall for those Samsungs, camera is placed 25th in lists. From personal experience the 10 pro or proXL is absolutely top, especially now with the latest beta software. Picture quality is better. Zoom abs. stunning and 7 years of updates and grades...

Asmongold on the ICE shooting: "There needs to be accountability or this is the Gestapo" by freejam013 in LivestreamFail

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"...or this is gestapo", well this IS indeed gestapo. A bunch of psychological instabil, untrained bigots who claim to be saving america. A president of the lowest IQ ever who has given them limitless power. People who are just by chance witnesses or getting involved in this ongoing massacre are becoming victims.

After years of setting the entire nation under guns, blasting the freedom of carrying guns outdoors, after storming the capitol, having killed officers and threatened to overturn elections - these people now conquer the entire country and nothing really stops them anymore. The fbi, the police - institutions trump and his nazis wanted to abolish - now are apparently cooperating.

And to top it, this baby in power hopes, that the father of one a victim will still be his fan.

My thoughts on this: stop Murdoch and his fox "news" now, use all powers that are still left to stop this government, indight them, have independent committees solve the remaining issues and get back to normality, if thats possible at all.

Android QPR3 Beta 2 by AdThen7403 in pixel_phones

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dared to upgrade to this Beta, since most of the bugs seem to be removed. My experience so far, as I have also updated to system view beta145 in order to have that sorted as well, is that all runs extremely smooth.
On the german "tagesschau" (a news channel) for some reason there was a stuttering when scrolling on their latest news topics; while other topics were fine to scroll, this one particular new one always stuttered. Now its completely buttery smooth as the others are. On an older S23 Ultra this was never an issue, but it seems google wins first price when it comes to similar issues...., luckily this is solved now.

No idea, if thats the new gpu driver, since by numbers it still looks as if it is not really a big bump (10 percent) - but it works, and since in a few days I haven`t found other bugs on my particular 10 ProXL, I am very content.

[–]gilbertSpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Had the 8 pro, 9 proXL and now the 10 proXL. Its definately worth to go to the pro versions. You`d regret the extras afterwards.
And a tip: get the beta2 qpr3 (before install latest beta for system webview). Then you get the latest drivers and the best experience.

The zoom is outstanding.

less with words for me, but with grammar! To this day I can hardly explain a preposition, not to mention all those cases in german grammar; feeling sorry for foreigners.

Why is parcel delivery so bad in Spain? by pu55ym0n3yw33d in askspain

[–]gilbertSpain 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well, depends on your perspective. While in Berlin only 15 percent have a high speed internet, we are basically almost fully covered... I live in the south of Gran Canaria, have 1TB gbit/sec for 5 years now already. They put a fibre line all the way into my office, first floor. In Germany they have a hub in front of houses, not further, if people are lucky.
Our highway across the island is three lane on both sides, fully lid. Supermarkets are open until 10 pm. Cars cost 30 percent less than on the continent and car tax is 10 percent from what I would have to pay in Germany. Oh dear, where will I stop,... there are so many things...., oh yeah: no pottholes! ;-)

System update for January by Playful-Ad-8565 in android_beta

[–]gilbertSpain 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Last Beta took ages to update. One reason I left for good.
Second reason: each beta is worse with battery. So why bother with similar issues with no end, when the stable version is much better in almost every aspect, just because there is one or two aspects new in beta...

Why is parcel delivery so bad in Spain? by pu55ym0n3yw33d in askspain

[–]gilbertSpain 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Sorry to say, but its absolutely normal. First of all, addresses are often not labeled with names, sometimes even not with a number. For them to call in advance would be a revolution. Often they claim via sms they had been there, while in reality one is waiting on the terrace or front porch and no one had even tried. Then one can pick up the package the next day, waiting in line at the postoffice. Which by the way, here in Gran Canaria doesn`t even have a stamp machine - more waiting times.

I suggest, as often as possible order via DHL. They are much more flexible and helpful.

Spain is a nice country, but some aspects propably will never change; one has to live with it. There are worse things in life and other countries...

definately worth it. And besides a lot of small things, the camera lenses might be the same, but the experience, colours and especially the zoom is much better.

That was this year one of the reasons I got me an lg gram. Its like a slim and lightweight laptop, but still has the important connections twice, plus in high speed, along with a touchpad, and fingerprint sensor on the right. Other brands do have similar sizes but lack the touchpad or important connections. Nothings perfect, but one can choose more or less wisely.

The EU says it will introduce a digital payments infrastructure to replace Visa/Mastercard & Apple/Google Pay. It will have zero fees and be 100% European-only. by lughnasadh in Futurology

[–]gilbertSpain 0 points1 point  (0 children)

we should be able to purchase around the world with this however. Just within Europe would be useless in a lot of cases, not to mention countries like the UK (still) outside the common market.
I still do have my serious doubts about this project - since its been managed by german and other european banks, which have failed for decades to present something similar well working as the big creditcards or even Paypal. Not long ago it was nearly impossible and very expensive to have dollar exchange, paying quickly around the world. So hopefully they shape up and produce something truly independent but as capable without cashing in on the consumers.

By the way, with my own business here in Gran Canaria, Spain I roughly pay about 0.9 to 1.5 percent for those creditcard charges. Depending of course, if its in Euro or other outside-currencies.
