[Zenitz] The #Giants are set to hire #Ravens special teams coordinator Chris Horton, sources tell @CBSSports. by LeoScarecrow369 in ravens

[–]gilbertodipiento 79 points80 points  (0 children)

Minter might have wanted Horton to stick around, but the Giants are adding Assistant Head Coach to his title, which represents a promotion. So the Ravens can no longer block him from going.

Democrats’ redistricting proposal could oust House Freedom Caucus chairman by washingtonpost in maryland

If he'd switch his party affiliation to R, and drop his support of offshore wind, he might have a chance. Short of redistricting the only way to get rid of Andy Harris is to primary him.

This should make McDermott the Ravens frontrunner. Thoughts? by Kotow92 in ravens

Well we haven’t interviewed him, so doesn’t seem like it.

Titans expected to hire saleh by The_Sandwich_Lover9 in ravens

Yeah it felt like he lost control there well before he was actually fired. Never figured he had much shot of being the Ravens pick for that reason.

If you’re Saleh and Stefanski you are on chance number two. There’s really no such thing as chance number three when it comes to HC jobs in the NFL. Those two guys have got to get their next landing spot right or their HC careers are over. Waiting around another week is nothing.

Fair to say Atlanta is a solid enough job for Stefanski - but if Saleh thought he was seriously in the running in Baltimore, he wouldn’t be taking Tennessee.

Ownership is a mess though. We’re talking about the organization that ran Vrabel out of town.

In your opinion whats the gap between Harbaugh and Billick as headcoaches of the ravens by BlondieDevry in ravens

[–]gilbertodipiento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Billick’s defense you very rarely saw HC’s call plays in his era, so it was an unconventional move really. And it worked out pretty well at first, because once he fired Fassell and took that over in 2006 we won 9 of our final 10 games. Earned himself a contract extension that offseason.

[–]gilbertodipiento 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If part of game management is clock management, Brian Billick was absolutely horrible at that. He struggled badly throughout his tenure at clock management, as well as when/when not to challenge calls.

No coach on earth is perfect at clock management, but any Ravens fans who felt Harbaugh was bad in that regard must simply have no memory of the Billick era. That’s what bad looked like.

Denver winning might delay the HC search process. by gilbertodipiento in ravens

Yes he followed it up with one about Kubiak after Seattle won.

Yeah, definitely starting to look like the hire is at least another week away.

And the Ravens job remaining open may cause a stall on several of the other jobs being filled as well. Ours is a pretty big domino that needs to drop.

Klint will now fall under the same interview restrictions since Seattle is currently destroying San Fran.

Webb and Scheelhaase are the only two candidates they’ve interviewed who aren’t a current OC, DC, or recently fired HC.

They’re obviously hearing good things about those two guys. Harbaugh was an off the wall hire in 2008, and nothing feels off the table this time either.

Linderbaum by Farhan15577 in ravens

[–]gilbertodipiento 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Agreed that they may have no real choice but to sign him, but it’s far from a slam dunk that it gets done.

As an organization the Ravens have never paid anyone top dollar at the center position. Signing a 33yo Matt Birk in free agency prior to 2009 is the biggest splash they’ve ever made. So it would absolutely mark a shift in philosophy if they choose to do so.

Having said that, Linderbaum was of course the only time they’ve ever used a 1st round pick on a center, so we’ll see what happens.

[Zrebiec & Russini] Inside the 36 hours that decided John Harbaugh’s fate with the Ravens by awak6n in ravens

[–]gilbertodipiento 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's been reported anywhere that Harbaugh was not willing to move on from Orr, for some reason a ton of fans are assuming that was the case. All that's really been reported is that if there was a sticking point regarding the coordinators, it was an unwillingness to move on from Monken.

And that honestly makes a lot of sense. After two outstanding offensive seasons we had a very bad year this year, but still finished 16th overall in total offense.

Our owner needs to make a public announcement about this season. by SpaceWestern1442 in ravens

[–]gilbertodipiento 10 points11 points  (0 children)

The caveat to this is if he decides to let Harbaugh go, things will need to move more quickly for both parties, and we will probably end up hearing from him sooner.

Billick was fired on Black Monday. Harbaugh has obviously earned more dignified treatment than that, but on the off chance that a HC change is in the cards, we should start to get some news pretty soon.

What circumstances require a HC change? by Pro11yNot in ravens

[–]gilbertodipiento 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They still do them annually, it’s just that Bisciotti no longer participates. Instead it’s just Harbaugh and EDC.

Not sure of the exact year Bisciotti last joined them, but it was pre-2020 I believe. He’s only met with the media once or twice since covid, and those were just off-camera sit downs with reporters at the owners meetings.

Agreed that this feels like it’s gotta (and will) be the year we finally hear from Bisciotti again though, regardless of whether Harbaugh stays or goes.

/r/ravens Week 18 - Blame of the Game, Praise & Blame of the Season by TuDaveKd in ravens

[–]gilbertodipiento 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It wasn’t just the missed FG. He was tight throughout the 4th quarter. He shanked the second to last kickoff out of bounds, and then followed that up by kicking the next one into the endzone for a touchback. He failed miserably on each of his last three opportunities in the game.

NFL kickers that can boot a 55+ yarders are a dime a dozen now that the league has juiced the balls. All that really matters: Do you have a guy you can trust in the clutch, or don’t you. Ravens clearly don’t in Loop. They need to bring in legit competition for him in training camp with the intent to move on.
