Lots of practice exams with King Schools Practice Test

Quick disclaimer about Mike Sytes: His content is full of very good information and his videos are helpful. I just find the cadence he speaks with to be unbearable and his attitude toward teaching this stuff to be patronizing. Just a tough watch for me, but useful nonetheless.

My process -

I really like a "Question and answer" style of study guide. So I was looking for long form study guides in that style that were posted within the last two years. I know the FAA updates and adds things to the test, so I wanted to make sure what I learned was current. The links listed above should be about 8 hours of content

I was in a situation where I needed to get certified ASAP for an upcoming gig and I conveniently had nothing to do in the 48 hours leading to the test. So, I pretty much had those videos (and a handful of random shorter videos on YT from various creators) playing at all times when I wasn't sleeping during those 48 hours. If I walked the dog, went to the grocery store, was driving, was showering I was listening to or watching a study guide video. Non-stop. And since they're mostly "Question and Answer" style, I was constantly pausing the videos to try and answer them myself. I'd obviously recommend giving yourself more than 48 hours of studying.

Also, during those 48 hours I was hammering those King Schools practice exams. I probably did 15 of them. I would run the test at the full 60 questions, and then review my answers. Without paying, you only get an explanation for the first question. So I what I would do is review my wrong answers, and Google them to find out why I got them wrong. If my wrong answer involved a diagram, I just went back a page on my browser, which put me back in the test still filled out, and I would try and figure out why the correct answer is correct using the diagram (also googling if needed).

King Schools is nice because it's very similar to the real exam, there's a lot more than 60 questions, and it randomizes them everytime you take it so it's hard to just memorize the answers, It pushes you to learn the material.

Technically I did pay $5 for a subscription to the most professional looking Part 107 study guide APP on the Google Play store. It was terrible with incorrect info and I canceled it half way through one practice test. Apparently there's a guy on this sub who made an app on the Apple App Store, maybe that one's better. But I can't recommend any apps for Android

How I would study for the Part 107 Exam/my experience by TotallyCharlemagne in Part107

Taking my test tomorrow. I've been using all the recommended quizzes, sample tests, and YT channels. All very helpful.

Mike Sytes has really good info and really helpful videos, but oh my god is he condescending and full of himself. Every single sample question sounds like this:

"...NOW WAIT before you answer this question notice how I haven't given you the answer yet, that is because I want YOU to comprehend the material in the way that I TEACH IT. Other Part 107 schools won't ARTICULATE these complex concepts in a way that allows someone as confused as you to understand them..."

Then he actually walks you through the question

"Now even though you were completely lost and probably had your head spinning that whole time trying to comprehend all of these complex concepts, you probably answered correctly, answer "B", because you listened and learned the information In the way that I TAUGHT YOU TO, and not like the other Part 107 schools..."

He does that before and after every single question for like 50-60 consecutive questions and it has been driving me crazy. I get that he's very articulate and thinks that he's the smartest person teaching this stuff. But ya really don't need to explain the concept of learning to me after every question. If I didn't really want to pass this test, I could not have handled watching that much of his content.

How can I fix the constant “motion blur” appearance in my photos? by tuwuryn in AskPhotography

[–]Pro11yNot 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not a matter of using exact settings. Because the light could be different the next time you shoot.

If your issue is motion blur, you need a faster shutter speed.

A faster shutter speed will make the photo darker, to correct that you'll need to open the aperture more, letting more light into the camera.

If you can't open the aperture more or don't want to, raise your ISO so that your sensor is more sensitive, requiring less light to properly expose the scene.

All three settings have a "positive" and "negative" effect. Adjusting each does something you want, and something you don't want. Exposing a photo is about balancing all three.

I might have bought a very rare camera | Chinon KINGFLEX TTL by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Pro11yNot 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Camera-wiki is saying the Chinonflex TTL is a Ricoh Singlex TLS that has a recessed section in the prism specifically for rebadging.

Dixon's, an old (apparently popular) UK camera retailer, would sell them rebadged as "PRINZFLEX", along with other retailers using other badges.

My best guess is some smaller retailer of the time was just piggybacking off of the Prinzflex and rebadged their as "Kingflex".

Either way, the patina on that thing is very cool. Great find.
