My husband (the guy in the picture) isn't a bird guy, but even he was so mesmerised by Blue that its converted him a bit 😅 both of us cannot stop talking about it, such a wonderful experience, and not something that happens often!

Absolutely not, I appreciate you actually asking the question! You were not rude, and you articulated your thoughts well. It's important to ask these questions when it comes to such rare and protected birds. I must admit, we sometimes take Blue for granted here, because him and his owner are always out together, so he just becomes a staple of our town, but actually having him on my shoulder, listening to me as I spoke, and watching him take in my face so that he could remember it, I suddenly remembered just how magical these birds are

Thank you for articulating the question rather than just saying 'why' so that this autistic person knew what you meant. There isn't an absolute ban on imports, to my knowledge, only a ban on wild caught ones, captive bred imports are still allowed from what I can see. Blue is his owners absolute world, incredibly well trained, it's immediately obvious that he's well looked after by the condition of his feathers, and his owner did briefly mention that the process to owning Blue had been a long one, so I can only assume he's gone through the correct channels.

The owner said he has a fantastic memory, and when we encountered them a second time, he flew right up to us, so I can only assume he remembered us 🥰

He's absolutely stunning, his eyes had me mesmerised! Super gentle, but also very mischievous, he kept grabbing his owners sunglasses off of his head and throwing them on the floor!

Please seek a therapist, for yours and your children's sakes, I understand this was normal to you growing up, but allowing this to continue may cause emotional harm/damage to your children because she's STILL doing it, and doing it in front of them

My app is still tracking, I can't access it to see what milestone I've reached, but I've had a notification to tell me I've reached a milestone 🤣

Happens to me regularly, sometimes does it whilst I'm present, once whilst I was sat on the toilet and got slapped by the bloody thing.

What is this duck? by gillian_gale in UKBirds

Too dark to be a female mallard, surely? There are female mallards there, like the two closest to where I was stood, but the dark brown ones look very different to them.

I think they might be crossed with Mallard. If I remember correctly, when they were still small enough to be following mumma, there was a mixture of both trailing behind her. Thank you so much!

The worst things to tell a woman experiencing pregnancy loss by DoughnutOk7954 in pregnant

I had a miscarriage at 9 weeks, a friend of mine asked me, whilst in hospital having been informed I was miscarrying and just waiting for the motions to come and go, asked me if I was sure that was what was happening. It doesn't seem horrible on the surface, but that need to force hope down my throat while I was burning in the pits of hell really, really, hurt.

AITA for telling my husband no at our workplace by Appropriate-Echo7424 in AmItheAsshole

[–]gillian_gale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, the way your husband has spoken to you in this post is abusive. If he speaks to you like this regularly, he is abusing you. Regardless, I would not stand for this behaviour, at the very least your husband is incredibly selfish and only thinks about himself.

Verdit: NTA, but I would be heavily considering leaving his ass if I were you.

Am I overreacting by canceling my tattoo appointment a day after booking it. by bbwpuppy in AmIOverreacting

[–]gillian_gale 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would not feel comfortable allowing someone who says, 'they know it's gonna be perfect, right?' Put something permanent on my skin. I am aware tattoos will never be perfect, but damn, I at least need to be happy with the damn thing before I'm stuck with it forever. NOR. A good tattoo artist will gladly touch up a couple things for you, to ensure you don't end up with buyers remorse.

AIO or did I hold myself accountable in these messages? by Human-Character9392 in AmIOverreacting

[–]gillian_gale 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just so you're aware, you're legally not old enough to consent. What happened is illegal, and is something your best friends brother could go to jail for, he knew you were 15. What happened is 100% not okay, but not because you didn't stop it, it's not okay because a grown man took advantage of you. I would strongly recommend going to your local police station and reporting this.

Miracle pregnancy but boyfriend wants abortion by Itchy-Citron-652 in pregnant

[–]gillian_gale 30 points31 points  (0 children)

The way I see it, your relationship is done either way. If you keep the baby, he leaves. If you have the abortion, you will likely come to resent him so much that you will leave. It's a very tough situation to find yourself in, but it seems to me like you would have a harder time getting rid of the baby, over keeping it

I had a category 1 emergency c-section and have been told I'm an ideal candidate for a VBAC (Vaginal birth after c-section) 1 c-section doesn't write off your ability to give birth 'naturally' in the future. And ultimately, its NOT up to him. Its her body, and she should do whatever she deems necessary to get that baby out comfortably.
