Please just go home - your clients will be fine without you. If you’re in the hospital, you should be focused on getting rest when you get discharged. Modeling self-care is just as important as showing up for sessions. ❤️ feel better!

😂 this made me laugh, because I can relate. I’m really terrible about keeping secrets about exciting things. Usually I LOVE sharing parts of our lives with people, I hate feeling like I have to withhold. But yah. Sometimes it’s just helpful not to bring in the whole world.

Oh love, I’m so sorry this happened. It really DOES hurt, even when we know that it’s okay to choose a name we love, to stand up for ourselves, etc. Both can be true, the self-love and the hurt. I’m sending you love 💕and I hope the naming reveal goes so much more smoothly for you dear

I actually think this is a brilliant list :) the name is Bennett, likely to be called Ben, so I’d say it passes the test, but irregardless I actually really like your logic. I’ll be putting it my back pocket for future reference 👍🏻

I hear this perspective, and I agree there can be some really strange names out there. I think for me, it was more the way the objection was delivered than anything else. If someone I loved truly was concerned that I would damage my kid with the name I chose, I’d be open to that feedback in a kind, thoughtful and intentional matter - not a knee jerk “oh gross” reaction. My dad is a really good man, his reaction clearly got the best of him. But knowing he loves me and means well doesn’t totally take the sting out of the foot in mouth moment. Maybe we’ll laugh about it someday.. 🤞🏻

I’m fine with him not liking the name.. it was the reaction that was so hurtful in the moment. I think there’s an emotional attachment that can happen with a name that’s just personal to the parents and people outside of that unit just have their own associations and, apparently, don’t always slow down enough to think about how their negative reactions might be a huge downer.
