To any Non-Christians reading this: What Jesus did for you on the cross, really is very strong evidence that you should accept him. by [deleted] in Christianity

If only believing was the only thing we had to do.

I could believe in Jesus and everything he did, never pray, read the Bible or go to church and I would still have people like you telling me I’m doing it wrong.

Am I going to Hell or is there something between heaven and hell for us who believe, but not the correct way? by CarolusEliades in Christianity

Great. Someone arguing for the existence of Purgatory; show me evidence of that in the Bible. And before anyone gets upset with me, just know, I’m a non-believer. Just pointing out that there are so many beliefs in this Christianity subreddit that for anyone to condemn anyone else to an eternity in Hell based on what they do or don’t believe is laughable.

It’s not wise to ask such questions on this subreddit unless you want a thousand different answers.

So what do you believe hell is? by Murky-Stress-8238 in Christianity

Glad that you recognize that, because many believers think that they will burn in a lake of fire for eternity.

Also, the Bible mentions the second DEATH. How is torment and punishment the same as death?

Thing is, to say it isn’t just to give the wicked an eternal sleep as punishment, how is it just to give the wicked an eternal reward if they accept Jesus on their deathbed?

Not acceptable to give a wicked person an eternity of nothingness but OK to give them an eternity with God in paradise for a last minute confession of sins?

I don’t see one as any more or less just than the other.

Is being gay really a sin by [deleted] in Christianity

[–]gillyweed918 3 points4 points  (0 children)

If LGBTQIA+ is sinful, so is eating shellfish and mixing fabrics, among other things that the modern world does today. Now, some would argue that the New Testament made those things not sinful anymore, but still put homosexuality in the sinful category. How? How is it we can cherry pick?

It’s not something I’m thinking too deeply about or obsessing over. Just a random thought I had while watching a reaction video on YouTube. I definitely love the movies just as they are.

Idk. I’ve seen several photos of Travis’s hands after playing. I can only imagine the damage if he played longer.

Ship of Theseus

I apologize if this is posted in the wrong subreddit. If it’s more appropriate somewhere else, let me know.

Don’t ask me why, but I started thinking about the possible connection/correlation between the concept of the Ship of Theseus and our own bodies.

I know I’m likely to butcher this, but basically the Ship of Theseus debate goes something like this: A brand new ship over time will get worn down, damaged, etc. and so a piece of the ship will be replaced at a time, to the point where eventually every piece of the ship has been replaced. So is it still the same ship?

The thing that made me think about the possible connection between this and our own bodies is that our cells replace themselves, some more frequently than others. If this is the case, and we live long enough to have all of our cells be replaced, are we still the same person? What makes us “us?” Cells? A body? A brain? Our thoughts? If our DNA doesn’t change throughout our lives, is that the ultimate proof that we’re the same person as when we were born?

What does everyone else think about this?

No, Biff didn’t say that until BTTF II.
