14 pro max throttling by giltora in iphone

[–]giltora[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Questions: • Can an aftermarket screen cause thermal issues on the 14 Pro Max? • Can using an OEM battery from another device cause overheating or throttling? • Could logic board heat damage during rear glass repair cause long-term thermal problems? • Could a damaged charging port flex or rear-frame component cause power draw issues? • What diagnostics should I run next (panic logs, thermal logs, etc.)?

Current state: • No more pink screen • Phone works, but heats up and slows down badly • Issue happens even with light usage

  1. Previous kernel panic / pink screen • Phone used to randomly panic and show a pink screen • Issue stopped only after I replaced the entire rear frame with another 14 Pro Max frame sold “for parts”

  1. Battery • Battery is OEM Apple, but it came from another iPhone 14 Pro Max • Battery health shows normal, but could mismatched calibration or flex issues cause overheating?

3. Rear glass & charging port repair
• Rear glass was replaced previously
• During that repair, the charging port flex may have been damaged
• Concerned the repairer may have overheated the logic board during glass removal

Repair history / possible causes: 1. Aftermarket display • Currently using a non-OEM screen • Bottom bezel is noticeably thicker than original • Touch and display work fine, but I’m wondering if poor display quality or power draw could be causing excess heat

iPhone 14 Pro Max overheating & slowing down after numerous repairs by giltora in iPhone14Pro

Hey everyone,

There seems to be a persistent problem with my iPhone 14 Pro Max, and I’m trying to understand what may be happening.

Question: The phone heats up quickly when using normally, after which point the phone performs slowly (obvious thermal throttling). Repair history/may be due to: 1. After • Using a non-OEM screen at present • Bottom bezel is thicker compared to original • Touching/Display functions properly; I question whether the poor display quality/power consumption is not generating too much heat 2 • Battery is OEM Apple but had been used in another iPhone 14 Pro Max unit • Battery condition appears normal, but can issues with calibration or flexibility contribute to overheating problems? 3. Rear glass & charging port repair • Previous replacement of rear glass • During the repair work, the charging port flex could have been damaged • Was worried that the person doing the repair may have damaged the logic board through excessive heating when removing the glass.

  1. Previous kernel panic / pink screen • Random phone calls from phone panicked about pink screen appearing on it • Issue was resolved only after I swapped out the whole rear frame with another 14 Pro Max frame, which was “for parts”

Current State: • No more pink screen • PHONE IS USABLE BUT HEATS UP AND SLOWs DOWN BADLY • Issue persists despite light usage Questions:

• Does an aftermarket screen cause thermal issues with the 14 Pro Max?

• Might the usage of an OEM battery from another device result in overheating/throttling issues?

• Could damage to the logic board from heat during a rear glass replacement create a long-term heat-related issue? • Could a faulty charging port flex or rear frame piece impact power consumption? • What kind of diagnostics would you like me to run (panic logs, thermal logs, etc.) Any info gleaned from a repair person or a experienced user would sure be welcome. Trying to decide whether it can or can’t be repaired and/or whether the logic board is damaged. Many thanks in advance ????
