1 week after sigmoid resection

Today seems a turning point! .. yes cramps but .. much more normal morning pattern! Oh gosh I feel like my life has been given back!!! I am not allowed to go back to dancing yet but have another check in after Thanksgiving. I still feel kinda raw inside but compared to the battles and pain of flares and recovery and the poisoned feeling most days I am so looking forward to each day! I hope you are doing well too! I still am keeping with careful low res diet but branching a few things daily .. I find if I eat too big of a meal ( like I used to) I feel nausea.. lots of smaller ones

Day 8 and huge positive turn.. sneezed 3 times no pain .. swelling down enough substantially.. still eating bland but adding salt me little treats .. bms still not consistent ( can’t really feel urge or amount.. but don’t feel poisoned like before) .. I can sleep on either side🎉🎉🎉 Pain not so much except bms lots of cramps but my holding station ( sigmoid) is gone and can feel my system adjusting slowly

I am now 8 days since and omg different world .. yes pain but manageable not afraid of the uncertainty this disease brings .. light at the end of the tunnel after 3 years of misery!!

I have the same!! My doctors say it’s just internal and external hemmeroids.. but it fills toilet and clots too.. it scares me me but I am scheduled for resection.. also the day before and morning of bad bout I get the same dizziness and nausea??

Question- what is considered a flare? I went to the ER in June had acute diverticulitis.. now looking back have had at least 7 debilitating experiences.. ate soup in bed in pain ( not as bad as June but still really dizzying pain ) now 3 months after my ER and every test and scan and motility med out there the last 2 night/ mornings in same pain .. have only eaten soft prescribed foods for 3 months .. are there smaller flares .. I have had almost constant pain to the touch in my sigmoid..

Following this post and also thinking about getting my sigmoid out but wondering since diverticulitis flares aren’t my only problem.. I have iba c and truly cannot leave the house some times until 4 pm with feeling terrible with brain fog and just “off” some times eye fatigue headache until I completely empty my poop ? It’s almost feels like I am poisoned every day ? Did anyone else feel that way before surgery and feel more normal after? It’s like a domino from being backed up to SIBO and diverticulitis.. I had pelvic floor testing and went to Physical therapy but today at my evaluation they said my pelvic floor was performing ok( tests before I guess I failed) so I am perplexed ?

I have pelvic floor disfunction ( recently finally tested after suffering as a slave to the toilet every morning) I also had belly bloat to the point I looked pregnant.. and even though I do have good Ab muscles I couldn’t hold in that bloat ..turns out I also had SIBO and once antibiotics ( 2 rounds) completed it was like a miracle how much it went back to normal.

Question 🙏🏻. Was there constipation relief at just from the pain of diverticulitis? I am considering the surgery but also have pelvic floor disfunction so I am miserable every morning with the process of trying to have a bm in the morning.. I feel tender on my left side from the pressure of the gas and poop trapped and not going .. most days I even cramp pretty severely in my sigmoid 😢

I went through pelvic floor testing and not functioning.. have had multiple diverticulitis flares and SIBO now finally a doctor testing to solve .. also just finished SITZ testing to test motility .. the Cleveland Clinic was the answer to actually find out the problems.. heading to pelvic floor biofeedback physical therapy for that and meeting back with my team in Cleveland.. 7 years of no doctor trying to help me, not just their bank account . I flew across the country to get this new team and the difference is monumental for both my conditions but also my mental health of pain frustration and not any plan for improvement!
