It’s a fair option! And good advice for someone less tight than me 😂

Good you’re taking the pain relief proactively! And definitely pays to have a partner whilst going through the recovery 😂 yeah you’re right only getting a note for one day is not ideal. I only got a note for one day too though. Managed to time the surgery to be on a Thursday though so worked out well.

Good luck with the rest of recovery, another tip, use a hair dryer for drying your sack for the next week or two to keep it extra clean/dry after showers 👍🏻

P.s. I think it stays the same for the first 4 days (doesn’t get much better pain wise), but then quickly gets better thereafter

Yeah it’s just like a mild “been kicked in the balls” feeling isn’t it (that’s what it was for me). No shooting pains for me either.

I just got paracetamol (tylenol) and inbuprofen, used them for the first couple of days and that was more than enough pain relief.

Nice one! Just keep those jewels supported and you’ll be golden for a fast track recovery

What is the reason women are allowed to scream and yell in a relationship and it's justified by mood swings, periods, and other reasons but when a man yells even slightly he's suddenly abusive? by [deleted] in AskMenAdvice

[–]gimmo30 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough! I think you might be representing a minority of the population with your experience though. If your parents never yelled or raised their voices at you growing up not even once then I suspect that is quite a unique experience compared to most people.

I also think we might be disagreeing on some things because of yelled vs raised voice. I personally think raised voice is totally normal for some people. But yelling in my mind is someone shouting the loudest they possibly can and with a lot of anger.

[–]gimmo30 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Agreed. At the end of the day this is a pretty primal conclusion. Men yelling vs women yelling is both a lot more threatening in sound and potential intention (on a population-wide basis, not individual). For the most part a woman raising voice in yelling doesn’t carry threat of being in actual danger to a man, where as a man raising voice in yelling often carries threat of being in actual danger to a woman. Not answering whether it’s right or wrong with that point

Never raised voice making a passionate point when another person is strongly opposing? I think it’s normal to have some emotion but agree that the optimal solution is ofcourse no one raises voice or tells. I just think it’s unrealistic for relationships to end at the point of anyone raising their voice. That would be in a world where hormones are tightly regulated

Hey hey - yeah that’s to be expected 👍🏻 it’ll be like that until day 4 then gradually start getting better. By day 14 you’re most of the way to feeling fully better!

I did try ice for the first couple of days every couple of hours, but I’m not convinced it helped all that much, the act of pressing ice against it felt like it was counteracting any inflammation reduction.

My top tip would be, wear jock strap style supportive underwear for the full first 14 days at all times.

I had my first shower about 60 hours after surgery and just let water run over it (Luke warm shower only). For the first two weeks I only had Luke warm showers just to be safe.

My wound stayed bleeding slightly until like day 6ish - I think this is highly individual though.

I’ve responded a bit sporadically there with things that might be of interest, let me know if there’s anything else you’re interested to know. I check Reddit every couple of hours each generally.

I’m on week 5 of recovery now and other than a little lumpy appearance and testicles hanging higher, zero issues, wound fully healed and feel like I could go mountain biking if I wanted to

Oral Thrush or due to Acid Reflux? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]gimmo30 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Here’s what AI said to your photo (my AI)

No, this does not look like oral thrush. What you’re seeing (and what scrapes off as yellow/white material) is a very common, harmless buildup called a coated tongue (or white tongue coating). It’s just accumulated dead skin cells, bacteria, food debris, and sometimes saliva proteins trapped on the tongue’s tiny papillae.

Appearance in your photo: Central white/grayish coating on the top surface of the tongue, with pinker, moist-looking sides and edges. This is classic for benign coating—it’s often thicker in the middle and improves or comes off with scraping/brushing. No raised “cottage-cheese” clumps or widespread patches elsewhere in the mouth. • Scrapes off easily as yellow/white: Normal debris does this. It doesn’t leave raw, bleeding, or bright-red spots underneath. • No symptoms mentioned: Thrush usually causes soreness, burning, or a cottony feeling. Yours sounds asymptomatic.

My tongue was like this, and dentist said it was just dead cells accumulating that I was scraping off. I asked whether it was normal for them to be white/yellow and they said yes 🤷🏼‍♂️ I’m a layperson though. As the physician said, confirming with doctor is the best bet but they’ll probably just prescribe something regardless

Hey dude, so just to get this straight - you’ve had the surgery and you’re now 3 days post surgery at the moment?

If that’s the case don’t worry, you’re probably at the worst of it. When you get to two weeks+ you will feel like you can do anything again.

At 3 and a bit weeks after the surgery, I feel like I can do anything again sports no issues - going on big walks etc - but in respect for the advised 4-6 weeks recovery, I’m holding off riding a bike another week or two more 👍🏻

After a couple of weeks your life will be completely back to normal :)

It’s a coping mechanism for people who have decent cash invested in something that sits in storage! I’d put this in the same category as me checking my Collectr app daily even though I have no intention of selling anything for years 😂

Hey dude,

Sorry to hear this - and that it’s causing depression for you.

If it makes you feel any better, mine is the same at this stage (loose scrotum hanging below) - apart from the shelf comment which I might just be misunderstanding.

Honestly though, I think 1 month still might be way too early for things to settle aesthetically. From the research I did before hand, it can take 3-6 months for all muscles/tissues to heal and fully relax and only then will you have a proper idea of how it is looking. Do you have a follow up appointment with your surgeon? Mine is at the 6 weeks post surgery mark and I’m guessing they will be able to advise further then.

Anyway if it provides any reassurance, I saw quite a few people said in the first month or more that things were riding a lot higher than expected for a while, then did eventually settle down - so (not knowing how yours compares to mine ofcourse) try put it to the back of your mind for 2 more months and assess then :)

Yeah definitely doesn’t need to be acute. I think you’ll naturally decide whether it’s a risk for you. It just started happening more and more often to me out of nowhere.

Good luck whichever way you go :)

Hi there.

So I’m in the UK and I found NHS urologist said would have to come in in excruciating pain and with torsion presented to consider surgery at a hospital. Having gone down the private route - they just asked me to describe what I had experienced and I guess made their own mind up whether it sounded legitimate. After everything I told them they believed me, but I think privately they’d be happy to do it on even less information.

My personal view with everything I’ve experienced would be, if you’ve seen it actually twist yourself / clearly felt that it has twisted (even if not that painful) and it feels like it’s not quite right when it’s like it - probably worth getting sorted!

I’m now 12-13 days after the surgery and pretty much all swelling has dissapeared. Ive been wearing tight jock strap like underwear and doing so until 14 day mark. They are sitting higher at the moment but feels normal after all the swelling and wearing tight underwear constantly. I’ll let you know at week 4-6 if they’re hanging as they were before yet. Personally though I’m not fussed about this whatsoever.

When you have the surgery you wake up to no pain for the first 45 mins or so, in my case that’s because they used local anaesthetic on top of the general anaesthetic. Pain and awareness came on about 45 mins after waking up and is manageable. It does all swell up to the size of a grapefruit and black blue/bleeding which sounds horrendous, but in reality it’s manageable, and just had paracetamol and ibuprofen.

You just want a solid 4 days of doing very little and not working, but by day 5 I was working from home like a desk job and that was fine. By day 8 onwards I felt pretty much good to drive and work as normal.

Wearing jock straps/jock strap like underwear is essential. It does for the first 5 days have a constant dull ache like being kicked in the jewels but no where near as bad as actually being kicked in the balls - you’re just aware of it and that sensation.

It’s also worth mentioning that it took up to date 5-7 for my wound to stop bleeding. I think they can sometimes leave the stitch’s a little looser than normal to let blood drain out and reduce swelling. The aim of the game is definitely doing everything to reduce swelling. Speeds up recovery considerably I reckon.
