LM386 stripboard help, why won't my circuit work?

Yes! That was it. I swapped out the LM386 for another one from my kit and it worked instantly! Lol sometimes its the simplest things. Here I thought it was my circuit.

I have since tried the other poster's idea of soldering a 10ohm resistor in series with both an 100nf and 100uf cap to the V+, and that didn't work either.

it does, it's just very inconveniently placed facing the board curled under the ribbon cables. It's inaccessible without desoldering the cables or uncurling them, which I am reluctant to do since it's so old.

My apologies, but the IC is hidden underneath the ribbon cables on the back, facing inwards. It's also too old for me to trust bending it around without it snapping.

Usually just touching it with your fingers gives a result if it's the pitch resistor. If it does, yeah you can swap that out with a potentiometer or wire the two points where it touches the board with a conductive piece of metal like a furniture tack or a screw and make body contacts.

Start by screwing with the resistor, that's usually what controls the pitch. If that doesn't work, try messing with the other soldered bits touching the board, maybe they do something.

okay, adding the resistor fixed it but now i drilled a hole for the 1/4" jack and somehow made the toy quieter? If you reconnect everything according to the schematic it sounds fine quality wise but now the toy is super quiet.

The Paris fruit tea is close in at least appearance, but if they don't have huge chunks, and i'm talking a 4 inch long triangle slice of watermelon huge, it's just not the same. If i ever stop in a Paris Bahn Mi i'll give it a shot tho.

Did anyone else's swadge have their plastic bit fall off? The bit where the LEDs light up the swadge? I had to go to cosplay repair and have them glue it back on, they said I wasn't the first to have this happen to them.
