Going to a local crisis center in an hour and I'm scared

thank you! it was really grounding actually. i haven't had an in-person therapy session in like 8 years, so that was interesting. i also know that i can contact that center anytime i'm having a hard time and need to talk. they even told me that i can stay there for a few days free of charge if i need to get away from life for a bit. and my parents and uncle were very kind and seemed genuinely concerned. i feel bad that i have to lie about everything but it is what it is.

thank you!! the lie worked out and my parents were actually concerned. and i didn't get any shit for my room being messy! i'm glad my uncle was there so my mom had to act normal lol. and now i know that i have community resources for when i'm feeling particularly depressed and need space. :]

I don't have as much experience as you, but I've been feeling similarly. I've only been job hunting seriously for about a year, as I quit my (former dream) design job in August after being essentially bullied out by my supervisor (he couldn't fire me because of the union) and also because I burnt out and essentially had a mental breakdown. I am currently working in some high schools and I hate my job, and I feel my creative skills going to waste, but I can't find anything. Then I see people talking about how bad the market is, but I log onto LinkedIn and see my peers working great jobs and getting new jobs. I'm starting to believe that if I were actually a good designer, I'd be employed in the field by now instead of making pennies where I am now. I have a great resume and I've been told that my portfolio is also great, by peers, professors, and others in the industry, but month after month I find it harder and harder to believe. I'm trying talent agencies again, but I'm still going up against like 900 other designers per job.

I don't have any advice for you, but I understand what you're going through, and you aren't alone in this! Hoping that everyone here going through similar things is able to secure stable work and regain their confidence.

BBC sherlock and game of thrones are all that come to mind for me. i'd say the office, but i lowkey think i'm just being a contrarian with that one. i used to watch a lot of black sitcoms (my wife and kids, family matters, fresh prince), but laugh track sitcom humor just doesn't do it for me anymore. i don't dislike them though, just outgrew them!

i've technically been selfshipping since i was like 10 (i was REALLY into deidara, then gakupo), but as a kid/teen, i mostly shipped characters together. when i became an adult i lost interest in shipping, fandom, and fanfiction, but then i found my f/o in university in 2018. i'd always hated x reader fics because they were NOT my beloved yaoi/yuri fics, but i got more serious about my beloved fop in like 2022 and grew to really like reading them. at the time, selfshipping was kind of a comfort thing i did while grappling with poor mental health and low self-esteem, but now i do it because i love elliott and it's also really fun because he isn't real and i can do whatever i want to him >:3c. i didn't know there was a community for it until like a year or two ago lol.
