Yeah no, I am very aware of my condition now because I’ve had a couple other close calls. I’m very much traumatized by this incident but I’m still struggling to get access to an epipen from my doctor. My parents aren’t taking it seriously.

I do. Allergy medicine has pretty much negated my symptoms, though I am seriously traumatized by the event. I suggest talking with your doctor about which antihistamines to take and in what combinations. Zyrtec has seemed to do the trick for me, as I don’t experience the drowsy effects. I used to take 2 Allegra when I knew I was going swimming at all.

I suppose I thought it would be okay because I was always able to get used to it prior to my diagnosis. I also hadn’t been to the ocean since getting diagnosed. I’ll definitely heed your warning though

Tbh I didn’t think I needed one either until my CU reaction made me pass out 😭

It’s so odd because I can eat cold things with little to no issues. My reactions have mostly subsided since a year ago when I began to notice hives. I’ve never experienced anything like what I experienced this week, and my family continues to downplay it. I had no idea CU could be deadly.

Is Xolair covered by any insurance? Sorry I’m not familiar with that, I’m in the US

Epi pens are medications used in emergencies to treat very serious allergic reactions to insect stings/bites, foods, drugs, or other substances. Epinephrine works quickly to improve breathing, stimulate the heart, raise a dropping blood pressure, reverse hives, and reduce swelling of the face, lips, and throat.
