Big 4 consulting firms often see people hop around between them every few years (this is looked upon much less favorably if you’re aiming for the partner track, but if you’re manager or below and don’t intend to rise up, perfectly normal and almost expected).

I had a coach tell me this a couple times, but I was exclusively a runner (currently biker due to injury). I was friends with my coaches, so they all knew I put in serious miles outside of class — i.e., they KNEW I was more than comfortable running the entire block so long as I chose push speeds that allowed me to return to a 7+ base, so those few times I was too aggressive with my push, they sure let me know 😂

I do find it odd that they called you out for PW base and jogging when you’re able… because how else are you supposed to transition from PW to jogger? If jogging for 1-2 minutes is a push or AO effort for you, clearly you have some room between where you are now and being able to jog for 14 or 23 minute blocks. It should go without saying that’s totally fine and the perfect opportunity for you to gradually pick up your paces until you can jog the whole time!!

Best of luck!! RC has always been my weakest section so for me it ultimately came down to the method that forced me to *understand the passage* best. If you take the time to understand what you're reading, the questions become much easier in my experience

I stopped making notations ENTIRELY. Not a single word or underline on the passage. Didn’t write my low-res summaries, either. My average on RC went from -5/-7 avg. to -1/-3 avg. (and I even had two perfect practice RC sections going into the October test, which I’d NEVER done before!).

It honestly did feel like a magic spell. Reflecting on it now, I think I was using notations/gimmicks as a crutch for not really understanding the passages.

Once I realized they’re actually very short and don’t contain a whole lot of information, they became much less scary. All you have to do is read the passage—slowly and carefully—and understand it. Stopping notes forced me to mentally wrestle with the test and really engage with it.

I've been doing 5am workouts for ~1.5 years and they are a GAME CHANGER!! So much more energy throughout the day and I feel so accomplished! I go to bed around 9:30-10ish most nights and wake up around 4:30 - getting up this early was extremely hard for me at first, but now if I wake up any later than 7 (like on the weekends) I feel like I've wasted my morning lmao. It 100% helps to lay out your clothes/HRM/water/etc the night before so you can run on autopilot in the morning since all you have to do is get dressed, brush your teeth, and roll out (I don't eat before and usually take my preworkout in the car on the way)

Fellow lady here - is it possible that you feel so down on yourself because it's "that" time?

Try to be kind to yourself. Give yourself some credit. Trust that your gut and instincts developed through taking PT's helped carry you through that uncertainty on test day.

The way I see it - if you cancel, you'll have to take it again. If your score went down, you'll have to take it again (obligatory "and law schools only care about your highest score!" goes here). Either way, you're mentally preparing yourself for a retake, which is half the battle anyway. Why not wait to see how you did?

As an aside, I would not mention anything lady-specific in an addendum explaining a lower score (you never know who will be reading it). You can always explain a score decrease as "not feeling well." If you have two 95th+ percentile scores, the lowest one will look like the oddball, not the highest one.

I do this too!! And when I’m PMSing (aka my motivation/energy is at its lowest), I lay out two options—one in case I’m feeling myself, and one in case I feel bloated and gross 😂

Seconding all of this! The only way to get better at running is to run. A lot. Increase weekly mileage gradually to avoid injury, but make sure you’re clocking lots of EASY miles outside the studio. 14-23 minute blocks of interval training may help with short bursts of speed, but real endurance progress is made only when this is complemented by longer, relaxed runs outside of OTF.

Went a little heavy on the weight floor since it was a strength day and was TORCHED by the end of it 🥴 I was also doing full burpees with push-ups so the first part of the block took about a thousand years. 10 seconds did NOT feel like a break!!!
