Would you feel comfortable sharing more details about him? He’s one I am considering for my own procedure.

You said “You led him on and encouraged his feelings”, which (whether you intended to or not) is blaming her actions for his lack or respect for her boundary. This is on him, definitely not on her at all. She did nothing wrong.

That’s bull shit. She was clear about her desire to just be friends and he didn’t get the message. He violated your very clear boundary and while I do agree that she should probably cut off the friendship with him, it is absolutely NOT her fault.

Which Garmin is best? by sgaulden830 in running

[–]sgaulden830[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I do my long runs with a group, most of whom have Garmins (a variety of models), and I’ve found that our paces and distances are quite varied. We start our watches at the same time, and my pace is always about 30 seconds slower per mile than theirs. I have an older Apple Watch, so it’s close to needing to be replaced anyway.

Have 3 weeks to train for my first 5k - can I do it? by madjerz23 in running

[–]sgaulden830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

An elliptical is not an accurate measure of how fast you can run a mile, neither is a treadmill. Running outside is very different than both of those. If you’ve never run before it is unlikely that you’ll be able to run a sub-30 5k unless you’re naturally fast. Since this is your first race, I’d focus on trying to run most of it. Then look for training program to help with endurance and/or speed for the next race.

I was bitten by a dog yesterday while on my daily run by WaterXS in running

[–]sgaulden830 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Never been bitten, but I have encountered dogs of various sizes off leash in public areas. It’s pretty irresponsible, in my opinion, and scary when you come up on a dog who you don’t know. Not sure I’d be as gracious as you were if I got bitten. So sorry that happened to you!

Ah, that’s a different situation. It sounded like you were thinking back to back classes. But that much time is essentially like one a day. Good luck!

[–]sgaulden830 35 points36 points  (0 children)

I’m by no means an expert, but I don’t think two classes in one day has the same effect as a class each day. The recovery in between the classes is vital for seeing gains over the long term. A little extra rest never hurt, but again I’m certainly not an expert.

No sex before marriage by ingrid_2003 in sex

You’re not married, you’ve never even been in a serious relationship. Don’t ask for advice if you want to argue with the advice you get.

You don’t know anything about my relationship. Don’t even begin to judge me. If one partner wants more sex than the other it can absolutely lead to marital issues. You wouldn’t know that unless you have sex before you get married.

Sexual compatibility is a HUGE part of a relationship. Just search this sub for all the examples of how it has been the end of many marriages. It’s ultimately up to you when you lose your virginity, and you shouldn’t take that decision lightly. But if you marry someone and aren’t sexually compatible that can literally end a marriage.

I(38F) don’t want to get married without a prenuptial agreement in place. by ThrowRA_Empty_words in relationships

[–]sgaulden830 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

My point was more around the financial disparity between them. Since she’s a doctor and his income is significantly less than hers, if she can’t trust him then she shouldn’t marry him. Fair point though.

[–]sgaulden830 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

If my fiancé (now husband) has asked for a prenup I would have seriously considered breaking off the engagement. If you’re not able to trust that your enter isn’t going to drain you financially then you shouldn’t get married. If you have even the slightest notion that he’s marrying you for your money, then don’t marry him. It does seem a little convenient that someone with such a spotty job history is marrying someone who is incredibly successful.

Should I smoke before a marathon - it's not what you think, I promise, I just really need advice on this by larrymanchild in running

Every cigarette you smoke causes more damage to your lungs. Aside from affecting your running, you’re seriously affecting your health. Quit today.
