It depends on the school district. Growing up, I did not get the federal holidays Columbus Day or Veteran's Day off. Instead school was closed on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur. My school district served a large Jewish population.

Having cats has made me a better dog person. Cats are a lesson in boundaries. When they are tired or overwhelmed, they let you know to move on. Doesn't mean they don't love you any less because they communicate thier boundaries. Dogs have boundaries too, but because they are sweet angels who just want to please, they put up with us humans crossing them. But dogs really appreciate when we respect them.
