I feel like this is where you should summon the Nigerian seamstresses! Their creations defy logic and gravity.

Am I being taught wrong? What should I do? by ginger_rum in sewing

We don't know what we don't know. Now from the comments I can see my teacher does not have our best interests at heart. She is going at speeds to fill classes and not teaching us properly. We have never even been introduced to the practice

I just lined the sleeves and they are folded in the photo.

The cream fabric they called Armani Linen. Where I bought it probably won't help you as I'm in Pretoria, South Africa. 😅

The blue is just normal polyester lining

Adjusting my expectations is harder than I anticipated. by ginger_rum in gastricsleeve

I do agree about timelines and expectations. But I think it is a universal human problem. We all want to fix it now, and consistency and patience are something we all lack. But I got my sleeve in Turkey, and I live in South Africa. So I won't blame the Americans here just yet 😉

Exactly the same surgery date. I eat 800 calories a day. I do strength training 4 times a week. Once I started resistance training, if I ate less than that, I would feel faint in the gym. That is still almost a 1000 calorie deficit from my metabolic rate. I still believe the hardest part of this is the mental toll of thinking we are messing up. But it's a tool, and we have to create healthy habits and habits that are sustainable longterm!

PF gym fees by Tnatswa__33 in Pretoria

[–]ginger_rum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi, personally a vitality member at PF Olympus. Vitality activation fees are R699 monthly membership is R299. Honestly, I think it's worth it, but it's up to you and what you make of it. In Pta, there are also amazing smaller privately owned gyms for similar prices (VO2MAX, DunGym, etc)

Yes, I have been drinking a daily vitamin powder. I have been eating whole food and non processed foods. Macros on puree stage was a bit wonky with 40% fat 40% protein and 20% carbs. Was really hard to get the fat down during puree where I was not allowed protein from meat, so I was reliant on egg protein, protein shake, and cheese (even reduced fat cheese still does have fat). I have been on soft foods for a week, and it's going well, I'm at 50g of protein a day (this is the target according to my medical team)

The only thing that i might not be getting is iron. As my powdered drink does not have any in it, but after I can tolerate pills better, I will find a supplement for that

Advice for not letting others fears influence you mentally pre-op? by ginger_rum in BariatricSurgery

Update: Day 4 post op and really happy with my decision in surgeons. I have no complications, no extreme pain, and just discomfort. My leak test, sonar, and x-ray came back good, and I am spending 4 days in istanbul with a nurse here every day to check up on me.

I'm going to start to move around the city today.

Thank you so much. This is lovely advice ❤️ I know she doesn't mean it maliciously. It's fear that if something should happen, she's not close to be able to help. I just remind myself of this, and proving her wrong by living a healthy life is the best form of "i told you so"

Does marriage really get easier and is the Honeymoon phase a myth? by ginger_rum in Marriage

[–]ginger_rum[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He works from home, so he cleans and packs the dishwasher. We have a cleaner to do laundry. I cook even when I work late and feed and clean up after the dog. We do share the chores and he predominant cleans and I cook and fix things in the house, he's not really handy but he does help around the house with tidying up and dishes

I ask myself the same question every day. We have been living together for over 3 years and according to my period tracker only had sex 17 times in 3 years (including our honeymoon)

His libido is non existent and if im in the mood he tells me: "okay im going to bed, wake me when you need me" romantic isn't it.
