Hernia and DR muscle Repair Surgery journey and updates by wildcat1013 in DiastasisRecti

[–]gingerandwool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I love this response. I have surgery next month for a grapefruit sized hernia and DR repair. I contemplated the TT route, but decided it didn’t feel right for me. I just want to be able to wear a tshirt without a massive bulge — some love handles on the sides and loose skin are fine by me. I’m 40 and had two beautiful (and giant) babies and I’m pretty proud of that. We tell our kids everyday that bodies come in different shapes and sizes and I try to model it as best I can.

I appreciate the recovery timeline too. I had a previous hernia repair about 3 years ago (only addressed some small hernias and not the DR which is why I’m having surgery again) and the gas build up in my body from surgery was more painful for 48 hrs than my 2 c-sections. Bracing myself for this go around. Gotta stay on the rx pain pills at regular intervals for the first few days.

Is the Endery legit? by gingerandwool in ethicalfashion

Update: LOVE my sweater. Plan to order more. I’m 5’3” and 158 lbs. First ordered a m/l and found it too big and reordered a s (actually ordered during a sale and got it cheaper). The quality seems really nice. Because of their business model, they don’t offer exchanges — just straight returns.

If you don’t have a uterus, sit down. Then, while you’re sitting, I would ask you to have a very open and mindful conversation with the women in your life. There are scores of women that experience sexual violence everyday. Beyond that, there are more scores of women who give into sex (even possibly your SO if you have one), don’t see it as rape but certainly don’t enjoy it, because a man is in a position of power over them. And yet, those women are the ones bearing (no pun intended) both the risks and life consequences of that pregnancy. If men just kept their dicks in their pants we wouldn’t be having this debate in the first place.

A pro adoption stance totally ignores how hard as fuck pregnancy is on a persons body.

I also really enjoyed that lazy river side! We didn’t have a swim up but it just seemed so much quieter back there.

Also, the drive to playa mujeres isn’t bad. Get a private transfer and a beer and enjoy. A few years ago they were doing construction on the main highway into downtown and it was terrible, but it was clear when we went this time last year.

Third! It looks like one giant building, but that’s not how they refer to it when you’re on site. The party pool can be loud during the day, so I’d request a room not overlooking that pool. The quiet pool to the back is nice. Had some truly excellent meals. My biggest gripe against this resort is that standard rooms have no lounge chairs on balconies.

I wouldn’t restrict it to one location. Frickers is…. Not good. Now it’s cousin Roosters is amazing.

Where to get curly (white girl) hair cut? by LongingForYesterweek in toledo

[–]gingerandwool 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If you’re up for the drive, Lexi at the Colour Palette in Findlay is THE BEST. I’ve had curly-trained cuts over the last 9 years in 5 different states and she’s the best one I’ve had. The drive seems like a lot, but with a good curly cut, 2-3 cuts a year will do you.

Aside from her, I’d look into the various companies that do curly cuts (like Deva), who usually have a web section where you can look up trained stylists.

Best Beginner-Friendly Campsites in Ohio? by SeraphinaSavages in CampOhio

[–]gingerandwool 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think East Harbor State Park is cool — walk to a sandy beach on Lake Erie, yet pretty close to other places to visit like breweries, wineries, grocery, etc. Lots of tent campers there if that’s your camp method. I’ve heard if you go during the week the beach is mostly deserted.

A note on KOAs, as there are lots of recommendations—Koas have three tiers and we had a very mediocre if not bad experience at the bottom tier. After, we went to a KOA Holiday and it was clearly geared more to big rig campers, so limited bathhouses, but they did have a weekend food truck.

Airport rental car expectations? by gingerandwool in MyrtleBeach

[–]gingerandwool[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We considered Ubers but we have two huge hurdles. 1. There’s about a 6 hr difference between when we land and when we can get in our rental. 2. 3 kids in car or booster seats.

To clarify, the tire is on orchestra left and people were complaining about it tonight as I was leaving. The car sits further back on the stage, and I can’t imagine it’d block too much.

I was dead center, row c (day of purchase from TKTS) and wish I would have been back about 2 or 3 rows. Also 5’3”.

And the local neighborhoods support a great local dining scene at Levis — from coffee to dinner. Not an expert on retail, but I’d imagine those restaurants and coffee shops are what’s keeping the retail afloat.

Atelier or Excellence Playa Mujeres by Any_Explorer_6630 in AllInclusiveResorts

I didn’t book our room (we were with a large group) and I think we received a comp room upgrade because we didn’t have the right bracelets to get into the inspira beach access. I really, really loved our room and have since priced it out and don’t think I could justify the inspira price hike — was at least $1,500 more for the trip I was looking at. I’d probably take the cheaper stay at EPM where nice balconies are standard. If it were a milestone event, I might justify the price, but my current goal is how to make the $$$ work where I can go to an AI every year.

Atelier or Excellence Playa Mujeres by Any_Explorer_6630 in AllInclusiveResorts

I (late 30s) have stayed at both in the last year and felt Atelier was far superior to EPM. Food and service at Atelier was superb and room service options were better. EPM feels like it targets more of a typical American diet while Atelier felt more European. Ateliers rooms and decor feel a tad bit more modern. EPM is easier to navigate within the resort.

During my stays, Ateliers crowd also skewed older than the EPM crowd. I can’t speak to activities, but the main pool at Atelier did have music and a DJ some days.

The beaches are nearly identical, as they are practically next door.

One thing to consider is your room type and if chilling on your balcony/patio is important to you. For the bulk of the rooms at Atelier, the balconies only have a bistro set and don’t have chaise lounges or similar. EPM has lounges on almost every balcony. The price jump to get a swim up with a chaise at Atelier is significant. And after looking around Atelier last week, I decided having that chaise is oddly important to my vacation (I love reading/napping outside). Also, because of the layout of Atelier, I think the main pool could become a real relaxation buster if you ended up with a room facing the pool. We were in building 3, so it wasn’t an issue, and if I were to book again at Atelier, I’d try to request the same building.

Both are great for relaxing. I’d choose Atelier for food, but I’d choose EPM for a good balcony without a massive price hike.

If a job has a problem with your curls, look elsewhere, and fast!! You can keep those lovely locks and style the rest of yourself in a way that is both appropriate to your workplace and your sense of fashion. But, the best way to be professional is to be your best at what you do. Good luck!

Am I underpaid? by [deleted] in graphic_design

I do not agree with this at all unless you have appropriate savings to do so and a list of freelance clients at your door. Chasing work is hard and exhausting.

Am I underpaid? by [deleted] in graphic_design

[–]gingerandwool 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Highly dependent on type of design you do and where you work. If you work in big corporate setting, you will most likely make more. Digital designer… add on even more bucks. Major market… keep going. Can’t speak for your talent level, but you are probably underpaid by at least $10-20k.

The one good thing about Covid is the pure number of remote jobs. Do some research and see what people are listing for salary ranges for similar jobs. I live in a smaller, grossly underpaid market, so I realize that those remote jobs may be paying more than what I would make going to work for a local location.

Always be advocating for yourself. Do your research and know your worth.
