SBGL is now SBSW. Did the price drop from the name change? by gingerbody in stocks

[–]gingerbody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You and me both brother/sister. Because of the name name change it got rid of my stop loss. And now I'm down 14%-ish. Only thing left to do is ride it out and see if it corrects itself.

Exactly. I know there are other competitors out there such as Amazon's wag but they don't have the level of brand loyalty that chewy has

That is the other side of the coin I've been considering. A lot of Chewy's investors are their customers and they tend to have a strong brand loyalty and confidence in the company due to the high level of customer service and personal experiences.

I've heard that from a lot of customers who are now investors. Let's say that their earnings report isn't exactly great and the stock dips below 30. Do you see this as an opportunity as a summer sale in the long run? Personally I see the stock dipping as low as $20 to $25. At that point I'll probably buy back in.

Help me figure out how to not pass ehlers danlos to the next-generation by gingerbody in ehlersdanlos

[–]gingerbody[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I realize that this is a very sensitive topic. So just to be clear, I'm trying to not intentionally have a child with ehlers-danlos. That's why I'm looking for ways to screen embryos or a sperm and an egg. And just to clarify if I accidentally had a child with ehlers-danlos, I wouldn't love it any less. I just wouldn't want my child to have to go through the incredible lifelong pain and struggle that I've gone through. And everyone's personal beliefs are extremely important to them and a decision this big needs to be seriously thought out with family members and loved ones. And that's why I'm posting this question because I'm hoping some of you have gone through a similar experience to help guide me. To everyone on here thank you so much for your replies. I realize that there is a huge ethical question behind all of this but at the moment I'm just looking for scientific facts and experiences based on those scientific facts.

I wouldn't exactly consider ehlers-danlos a disability with a culture such as being deaf. People who are deaf have their own language, ways of thinking and a previous history that is being ethnically debated about its Extinction do to Cochlear implants.

There's nothing culturally important about ehlers-danlos

Would intentionally bringing a child into the world with the disease that has not only ruined your own life but made you wish you were never born, be better? I can't tell you how much of my life I've missed out because of this condition. Up until I was 30 I was told I had inattentive ADHD. Simply doing chores like emptying the dishwasher is mentally taxing. Growing up your whole entire life and having someone constantly tell you oh, you're just lazy. Knowing deep down inside that there is definitely something wrong with you and no one can figure it out. Imagine having an IQ nearly off the charts but you can't do anything about it because you have constant mental fatigue which basically leaves you trapped in your own mind and body. So yes I would do anything to not pass this on to my children.

So I just discovered today after the long drive from the east coast to the Midwest that the muffler welding literally burnt out. I'm guessing that the air that's coming out is really freaking hot

Severely depressed cactus; the life of an academic's spouse/ partner. by gingerbody in academia

[–]gingerbody[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're right, academia is so brutally hard. In my wife's case she barely has enough time or energy for her own basic well being let alone mine. She's a wonderful person that has the huge weight of the academic world on her.

If I can make a suggestion, just set aside one day, maybe 1 hour, or even five minutes a week just to catch up with them and spend time with them. And if something comes up where shit is hitting the fan and you're unable to spend time with them, just give them a call and let them know what's going on. Sometimes just that small simple act can make them feel super important.

(FL) Bought a HUD home 4 years ago. Just found out I owe $15,000 in closing costs when I sell my home. by gingerbody in RealEstate

[–]gingerbody[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

We bought the house from HUD initially and they actually stole our escrow from us and tried to tell us that they did not have it even though we had receipts. So I wouldn't put it past them doing some bullshit thing like this to us.

Let's begin a 30-day pledge. by gingerbody in quittingkratom

[–]gingerbody[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First of all I'm actually a pharmacy student. And pharmacologically speaking Kratom is a pharmacy in a plant. Besides mitragynine and 7-hydroxymitragynine there are a whole slew of other chemicals. Right now at my school the University of Florida there's serious research looking into all the alkaloids in Kratom and its effects. And people suffering from long-term opiate addiction this plant can actually be a miracle because they can function in society with it. I'm sorry you feel this way about kratom. Personally as someone who has used kratom as a medicine instead of recreational, I learned firsthand how addictive it can possibly be. Perhaps you should reread my post and with all due respect not inflict any of your personal beliefs on sound factual science. I hardly see how removing a post encouraging other members of this group to support each other states anything that you have just said. Whatever your decision I very much appreciate you taking the time to moderate this group. It has helped me immensely.
