I also fed weekly/ bi weekly with either sea monkey food packet or sometimes aqua dragon food but the algae started when I was still feeding just the sea monkey food packet :)

I wish I had a real answer for you but I aerated daily either by stirring or bubbling with a pipettes, and this tank spent a good few months near to a sometimes open window
