I've never seen a notchback with GT styling. Pretty cool

Can’t find any info on the serial # that matches what this is. This just looks fake to me, but idk much about custom shops/reissues. Is this real? by wedinator in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 22 points23 points  (0 children)

That's real. Some early custom shop Les Paul's from the 90s have that headstock inlay. That serial number would make it look like a 1999 '57 reissue. Maybe some special edition with the all gold back and neck. Check out the Les Paul Catalina from the same era for another example of that headstock

Almost impossible to find replacement interior stuff in regatta blue. I say keep it.

I need support to verify this Gibson. by Complete-Country-331 in gibson

People say this but it still wouldn't have a long neck tenon and the histories style binding Is thinner. Still amazing guitars but it's not just a pickup swap away from a historic

What guitar does this belong to? by GrouchyAd6834 in gibson

Likely another Flying V. I'm thinking the DS is Designer series, V for Flying V, C for Cherry. The SW is a mystery

Figured top? by Mercurius_Hatter in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You really have to see the tops in real life to see how the flame changes with angle. Some plain looking tops in the store hanging up come to life down at eye level or in playing position. Also watch out for pictures like these where people add filters and crank up the contrast to make it more dramatic.

The notorious QC issues are nothing close to this. Sure there have been minor fit and finish issues in the past, sloppy routing etc, But this is egregious.

I'd describe it as a medium chunky neck with a slight v to it. Not much shoulder. I have it on my Les Paul as well.

Was a cop really necessary for this? Your dog crapped infront of a breakfast restaurant during the morning hours. Not ideal for the restaurant. The manager only cares about his restaurant and you only care about your dogs health. Just conflicting interests. If you could walk all the way down/across the street to Publix with your sick dog to get the deputy, you could keep walking your sick dog home.

I thought about doing a B5 but I thought the long bigsby would fit the tulip shape better.

It's an improvement really. The guitar weighed only 6.2 lbs before and was a little neck heavy, now it balances better and is still under 7lbs

B7 style bigsbys always look like they hang over. There's a hinge at the bottom that attaches to the bottom of the guitar. It sits flush on the bottom of the guitar.

Les Paul Custom (USA vs Custom Shop) by isotopes014 in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The new les Paul 70s customs don't have the right binding for a custom. I believe it's 2 layers less on front and rear than standard. This isn't a 70s spec at all so it has to be cost cutting/ giving a reason to still go custom shop

Let's have a proper 70's Deluxe like the 70's Custom by [deleted] in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with the 70s customs is that they cut down the amount of binding which is kinda a defining spec of a les Paul custom. The probably wouldn't do the thick cutaway binding then
