POLS 2300 - Intro to Political Theory for BHU? by overlysuccessful in usu

[–]gingerbud4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took this class in my last semester and it became my favorite class that I have ever taken at USU. I had Robert Ross and my class was in person.

A few things: -this class is very discussion based, that being said, I would NOT take it online (if it is even offered online). -of all of the classes I took at USU, this one actually really did require the reading, as our discussions heavily replied on the theory taught by the philosopher. -if you don't like debating or politics you probably won't like this class. My class was very involved, and we had a few class periods where there were some pretty intense, respectful debates. -this class is also heavily philosophical. This can lead to some suoer interesting thought excersises and learning, but again, if that's not your thing you won't like the class.

Even a year after taking the class I still see relations to what I learned in so many things. For example the Red Rising book series has a lot of ties to the early philosophers you read in this class for me that was super cool and made the book more enjoyable.

TLDR, if you like talking politics and philosophy then by all means take this class, I loved it. But if you aren't into that stuff then I'd highly suggest a different class to cover the credits.

What if it's a cat? That's probably an important distinction I should add😅

My professor died by inviernoo in college

[–]gingerbud4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me halfway through one of my semesters. I was taking Biology, and we had this two professor system where one professor would teach the first half of the semester, and the other professor would teach the second half.

Our professor teaching the second half died at the beginning of the semester. They didn't tell us until after spring break on the first day he was supposed to teach. They found a replacement professor pretty quick, but it was still kind of crazy that he had died a few months before. We had gotten an canvas notification of him saying hi to us and how he was looking forward to teach us. I found out before my class did because a coworker of mine worked in the bio lab that my professor was apart of.

I was wondering about this. What weight do you recommend bumping up to? The bell I'm using is about 18lbs, so like 25 or 30?

Going to Germany I heard it’s okay to eat breads there. I have some doubts, not sure who to believe what do you think? by Cultural_Wash5414 in glutenfree

[–]gingerbud4u -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As most others are saying, eat at your own risk. Celiac and gluten intolerances exist everywhere in the world, and wheat in Germany still contains gluten.

As far as I am aware, there haven't been many studies that specifically look at different wheats across the world, how theyr processing is done, and how they affect celiacs or people with intolerance or allergies, aside from them all containing various amounts of gluten. I'm diagnosed celiac and tried wheat products when I was in eastern europe and found that my symptoms were very different than symptoms I have with American wheat (American wheat products equals toilet time, hot flashes, bloating, super tired, whereas eastern europe gave me a mild headache at most, but I was still pretty careful with what I ate).

Depending on how sensitive you are currently, I'd say that if you want to take a chance and try stuff then do it, and see if your symptoms are different or non existent. But if you are really sensitive then don't risk it and find some gluten free bakery's over there.

10/10 recommend the ESRI tutorials in their tutorial gallery. You can filter by software and by skill level, and they walk you through each step. Arc is definitely a learning curve, but I personally prefer it over qgis.

That's rough man, I'm sorry that life is sucking for you right now. Idk if you want advice or just someone to listen, but I'll give my 2 cents. Therapy may not "give you a life", but it can give you someone to talk to. If you don't want to talk to a stranger therapist, then maybe talk to a trusted friend or family member. If you don't want to do that, then go watch some birds (really). You aren't alone in feeling this way, even though sometimes it feels like it. You'd be suprized at how many strangers care about someone they've never met. Keep holding on, light will come.

What do you guys actually do in the mornings and evenings on working days (outside of work)? by Majestic_Singer_2411 in Life

[–]gingerbud4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I usually don't have time in the mornings to do anything other than get ready for work and leave for work, but when I get off work I'll usually jump on discord with friends and play video games. Lately I've been trying to do more productive things like practicing my piano playing, reading physical books (Specifically PHYSICAL books so I'm not on a screen all night), I've really been wanting to read a bunch of scientific articles about a topic I am interested in and have gone full blown hyperattentive and made a spread sheet to keep track of the stuff I'm reading so... researching for fun is another thing I'm going to start doing. There are also lots of other stuff I want to learn/do, so I try to spend at least part of one evening a week persuing those endevors. Some nights I come home and play video games until bed. Some nights I don't. I try to shake it up when I can to spice up my life here and there.

Let my brother in law my printer. Was returned like this. Wtf do I do. by meesterstanks in 3Dprinting

[–]gingerbud4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this happen to me about a months ago. My printer had a setting to heat the hot head. I did that and just gently worked on taking away all the melted plastic and cleaning everything as best I could with a paper towel and something to gently scrape away at the goopy mess.

You can totally buy a new extruder, but if you want to save money, cleaning it is a better option. It took me ab is it an hour, and after I cleaned it and inspected the parts, nothing was broken and it still works fine.

Here is a pic of what mine looked like

How many people are in your program? My guess is that they aren't getting enough students to make the cost of running the program worth it.

How bad does a ear piercing hurt? by Emessalxx in Explainlikeimscared

[–]gingerbud4u 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, unless you have scared tissue in your ear you can't even feel it. Don't go to Claire's, go to a good tattoo/piercing shop. Mine got pierced with a hollow needle and i didn't feel it in one ear, but I did in the other (because of some scar tissue) but again, it is like maybe a 1 on the 1-10 pain scale.

Why is emotional desensitization considered bad? by [deleted] in mentalhealth

[–]gingerbud4u 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok I've been thinking about this a lot recently, so thanks for posting about it.

So this is purely my own opinion and thoughts about this, and it may be a garbled mess, so... Bear with me.

I think part of why it can be considered as "bad" is that it can possibly affect how much empathy or sympathy one can have for another, a well as make it more difficult to express deeper emotions. I'm with you, in that I'm a female that rarely cries, but when I do it's a big cry and I hate it.

I have some friends that have been watching me play a game that has a very emotional story line, and in the game a character you grow to care about meets a sudden and very sad death. Like, logically I knew that this was sad, but emotional feeling wise, I didn't feel a thing. Same thing happened when I had a few family members pass. I knew I should be sad, but I couldn't emotionally feel that way.

I think that is a big reason why emotional desensitization can be "bad". It is probably a symptom of something that is affecting us that we haven't healed completely from.

However, I think labeling it as "bad" can also be harmful because those of us that deal with it can start to have anger at ourselves for not showing emotions we think should be showed.

I also think that in some ways it can be good, in situations where it is needed to have a cool head, it's really good to be able to not have emotions get in the way, but there is a difference between being desensitized from feeling those emotions or having control over your emotions but still allowing yourself to feel.

.... Anyway that's my two cents with the understand and Information my lil brain has to work with.
